Grade one class with their 3D shapesIn today’s math class, students got to work in groups and write down why their 3D shape was the best.  Students listened to each others arguments and voted for the most convincing.    Group 1: Meghan, Octavia, Jake, Scott and Abby S.   A “cylinder” is the best because it rolls down the hill.  That old cube just tips over.  A cylinder can also make a “T” and an “I” and it can spin like no other shape.    Group 2:  Ben, Chandler, Abbie D., Isabella   A “pyramid” is the best because it is in the Egyptian treasure.  It is now in the museum.  It can store treasure in it.  It is older then it looks.  They are on the queen of the Egyptians crown….Oh ya!   Group 3:  Drew, Grace, Colby, Brooke S., Bilal   A “cone” is the best because we are the only shape you can eat ice cream with and we are the only shape that rolls in a circle.  We can spin on our tops.  We can slide.  It is the only one that can be a party hat.   Group 4:  Aaron, Brooke B., Matthew, Jadyn, Ellie   A cube is the best because you can play games with it.  You can watch TV on it.  You can make drinks colder with it.  You can take a tissue out of it.  You can buy it.  You can make it.  You can put stuff in it.  You can roll it.  You can stack with it.      Group 3 "3D cones": Winners! After all the votes were tallied, group 3 had won!  Great job guys!
