A World Without Periods

Posted: January 27, 2010

For the month of January the students worked hard on the Conventions Trait in the 6+1 Traits of Writing.  Today we talked about what our world would be like without periods.  Here is what they thought about what would happen if our stories had no periods:   Lushula – You would be tired.  You would loose your breath. Keisha – We will keep on going and going and going. Drew – We would never catch our breath because you’d never stop reading.  It would be hard. Skylar – You wouldn’t breathe. Gillian – I wouldn’t want to read again because it would be hard. Braydan – We wouldn’t be able to breathe. Evan – I wouldn’t like stories because you wouldn’t have breath anymore and you will be tired.  Cameron – It would not be so great because you would not be able to catch your breath. Jaden – I think if periods didn’t exist our reading would sound like this – There was a boy named Tim he was shoveling he found a gem.  Hunter – We will run out of breath. Megan – I would be very out of breath. Mia – We will read the book without stopping.
