September 29th - October 3rd

This week we will be working on the letters Ee and Ff.  Show your parents the zoophonics sound and signal for Ellie elephant and Francie fish.  E is a hard working vowel and makes 2 sounds.  It can be found in words like eagle, elephant, egg and Ella.  Funny, Friday, first and fish start with the letter f. What words do you know that begin or end with these letters? What would your name be if it started with the letter Ff? I'd be Fiss Fatheson!! That would be silly!!!  Practice printing these letters at home.  In writer's workshop we will keep praticing telling stories through pictures.  Remember the more detail you add, the clearer the story becomes!    We are going to start working on sight words this week! October sight words are being sent home with this month's homework. This week, we are going to learn the words "I" and "like". We'll make sentences with these words and use them in our writing! I like dogs. What do you like?       In Math, we are going to work on making simple patterns. We go to the Library onThursday. Remember to bring your book back so you can get a new one!  Show and Tell is Friday.    Homework begins this week.  There is a homework calendar being sent home for the month of October.  Parents, please have your child choose 3 activities to complete for the week (you do not need to write anything down for the oral activities).  Each student will also receive books to read (parents, you can read these books to your child, have them search for letters, point to words, etc.) and a list of October sight words.  Children are encouraged to practice their letters/sounds using the zoophonics package that was sent home last week.  All homework books are to be returned on Friday.     Have a great week!!!
