The grade five students of Gretna Green would like to thank Miramichi Police Sergeant, Merle Campbell, for a memorable tour of our very own Miramichi Police Station. We had the opportunity to get a first hand view of how the Miramichi Police Force work as a team to make our community a safer place. Constable Chadwick also reinforced how important it was for our students to continue making good choices and furthering our education. A definite highlight was to get a personal meeting with the latest addition to the force, K-9 Timo, along with handler Lori McEachern. Thanks again Sergeant Campb
On Friday, February 12, students at Gretna Green helped celebrate the opening the 2010 Olympic Games by hosting their own Math Measurement Olympics. Each class competed in a series of 5 events; Side Step, High Jump, Straw Javelin, Cotton Ball Shot Put and Paper Plate Discus Throw. Bronze, Silver and Gold medals were given to the students who earned the top points for their class. All students earned a certificate of participation. See the image gallery for pictures!
The grade five students have started a recycling program at school with the help of Hebert's Bottle Exchange, located on Wellington St., Chatham. We have set up an account for the school at this location. The grade five students would like to encourage you to drop off your recylables at Hebert's Recycling as a donation for our year end field trip to Moncton. Thank You!
