Our Gretna Green Chess club finalists particpated in the District 16 Chess Finals over the weekend in Rexton. We are happy to announce that three of our students received medals! Matthew received a silver medal Dylan and Sophie also received a bronze and silver medal. Ben also placed fourth place in the District 16 finals. Dylan, Matthew and Sophie will now advance to the provincial finals to be held in Fredericton. Congratulations team!
On Wednesday, March 30th Gretna Green will be doing a fundraiser in conjunction with World Autism Day being held on April 2nd. All students are permitted to wear a hat for the day if they bring a loonie. All money raised will be forwarded to the Autism Society in support of Autism research.
At 8:30 PM on Saturday March 26, 2011 - lights will switch off around
the globe for Earth Hour and people will commit to actions that go
beyond the hour.So let's support this environmental cause Gretna Green and flick the switch at 8:30 on Saturday!
The grade fives had a memorable day today. They had a video conference with Canadian Space Agency scientist Vicky Hipkin. During their conference they spoke of an assortment of topics regarding our atmosphere, planets and lunar conditions. The students also duplicated the atmospheric conditions of Mars under the guidance of expert Vicky Hipkin. It certainly was a memorable day for everyone!
Our floor hockey season is off and running once again this year. The boys and girls are having fun under the guidance of their coach Mr. Ryan. Check out our latest image gallery for some of the highlights.
Congratulations to the Girls' Min Pulamoo basketball team who won the bronze medal in this weekend's provincials. It is always refreshing to see our students succeed in and outside of school. The bronze medal recipeints are Kamryn M., Alexis M., Megan C., Katie A. and Lauren S. Congratulations girls!!!
Gretna Green hosted its annual Science Fair today. Congratulations to the following students for being selected to represent our school in the upcoming District 16 Science Fair to be held on March 23rd at Grenta Green. Our finalists are (Grade 3) Bilal, Isabella, Matthew R., Patrick, (Grade 4) Brydie, Shaylin &Lauren, (Grade 5) Saood, Katelyn & Alicia, David N., David W. and Sophie. The grade 3-5 students did a fantastic job presenting to both parents and students throughout the day. The display of Science content and fabulous knowledge shared by our students was second to none.
The Scholastic Book Fair will be held at Gretna Green next week in the library! Please come out and support this great event!

Gretna Green is busy once again providing fun and interactive learning opportunties for our students! Thursday, March 17th is not only St. Patrick's Day but it is also our School Science Fair and our PSSC Math Family Fun Night. Parents and family are invited to view our grade 3-5 student Science projects on March 17th from 1:30-2:15. We would also like to invite all of you to our PSSC Math Family Fun Night being held in the cafeteria at 6:30 on March 17th as well. So come on out tomorrow and enjoy these unique learning opportunities for both you and your child!
