Welcome to Kindergarten!

Posted: September 18, 2016

We are off to a great start in Kindergarten.  I'm looking forward to working with all the boys and girls in KM.  They are a super bunch!  We have been busy making new friends and learning some rules for the classroom. Ask your child to tell you some of their new friends names and see if they can remember what the 5 rules of the classroom are.

We have started learning some Zoophonics signals and will be working on the letters Aa and Bb this week.  At home, have your child look for these letters in their environment, practice printing the letters and find objects that begin with the letters Aa and Bb. Another activity to do at home is to have your child work on printing their name using an uppercase letter at the beginning and lowercase for the rest.

We are learning how to tell a story by drawing detailed pictures.  Try this at home. Their stories are so fun!

Ask your child to tell/show you the best way to read to a buddy (elbow to elbow, knee to knee, book in the middle so we both can see).  In Math, we will be starting to learn about patterns.

We started to learn some safety rules for the bus and Mr. Stewart taught us how to be Whole Body Listeners.  Ask your child to tell you how they listen with their eyes.

Show and Tell will start this Friday.  Yay!  Look in your child's home folder for a notice.

If your child orders from the cafeteria this week, please remember to put their order and correct amount of money in a baggie with their name on it in their home folder.   Cafeteria orders are sent to the office early in the morning and I am unable to check lunch cans for orders.  Thank you :)

School picture day will be on Friday, September 23rd!!!

         Have a great week!
