I am so proud of my amazing students for completing their first week of school in French Immersion! We had a wonderful week!  We learned the following oral structures:Quelle est la date aujourd’hui? Aujourd’hui, c’est le 11 septembre, 2015. Comment t'appelles-tu? Je m’appelle Daniel.Quel âge as-tu? J’ai 8 ans.Quel temps fait-il aujourd'hui?  Il fait soleil.Es-tu une fille ou un garçon? Je suis une fille. We are working on our colors, school vocabulary, the 7 days of the week and the 12 months of the year. We also worked hard on our numbers and number words from 0-20.   Homework starts Monday! Please check the calendar in their homework folder for more information. Bravo mes amis!  Keep up the great work! :-)

In Math, we finished up our multiplication and division unit and we are now working on Geometry. Students are learning about polygons and 3D objects: pyramids, prisms and others (cone, sphere .cylinder). Students will describe these objects by determining how many faces, edges and vertices they have.   Please continue to review math facts in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.  We will be completing our Structures et Materiaux unit this week.  As a final project in this unit, students will build a structure with their group.  I'm looking forward to seeing my architects at work!  Next week, we will begin our final science unit on Plants and Soil.

Les 3 petits cochons (à la Gaga)

In Science, we are talking about "Structure and Materials".  We discussed the 3 Little Pigs and how they built their houses by using different materials.  Here is a catchy rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face”. It tells the story of “Les trois petits cochons” in a fun way.  My students LOVE this video clip and song!

Multiplication Game

This week, we will begin a science unit on Structures and Materials. We will learn about structures, materials used in structures, the differents parts of building and who is involved in making structures. As a final project, we will create our own structure. In Language Arts, we continue to work on the 6 +1 Writing Traits to develop more independant writing. We are presently focusing on Word Choice to make our stories more interesting to the reader. We continue to do the Daily 5 activities everyday.  We also review our French sounds, oral structures and cursive writing on a daily basis.  We continue to work on our Multiplication and Division Unit.   Please continue to practice times tables with your child up to 5X5. Students can also practice by using the math websites that I posted on our class webpage.
