As part of our Leadership class this term, Mrs. Blakely-Doucette's Grade 8 class is doing a fundraiser for the Miramichi Food Bank as well as the Giving Tree, put on by 95.9 The River.  These events will be held on the following dates during the month of December:
December 3rd- Jersey Day
December 11th - Hat Day
December 14th - Twin Day,
December 16th - Crazy Sock Day
December 18th - PJ Day

The students were looking for a way to help families and seniors around the river during the Christmas season and shine a little bit of light on this otherwise gloomy 2020.  They also wanted to find a way to encourage school spirit in a year that has been very difficult to do so with the many restrictions and guidelines that have been put in place.
To date, the class has raised $250.00 with our first PJ Day held last week.  They have decided that the initial monies raised along with Thursday's donations will be donated to the Giving Tree and the money raised after that will be given to the Miramichi Food Bank.  Students are encouraged but are not obligated to make a donation of $1.00 on each of the days.  If they would like to give a larger donation, that is fine too!

All of my Language Arts classes were given a Picture Story assignment. Each student has to gather at least 5 things that represent them or are special to them. They will then rearrange the items together and take a picture of them (all 5 items in one picture). Students will then write two or three things about each items, telling why the item is important. Be specific. This year, I am giving students a choice on doing a powerpoint to present or a write up. This is because it is hard to get the laptops for each of my classes. If students choose the powerpoint, this will have to be done at home, with the draft copy done in class. Each student was given a copy of what is expected and a rubric to follow.

Here are the following due dates:

6/7 A - due Oct. 19

8 BD - due Oct. 19

7 B - due Oct. 21

6 A - due Oct. 23
