Home Learning - November 8th - 12th (Grade 3)

Posted: November 8, 2021

Hi grade three and welcome to our second week of home learning. I miss seeing you all and can’t wait until we are back in the classroom together again. You will notice that this week is structured very similarly to last week. Once again, you will find attached documents with everything you will need for this week of home learning. Like last week, students are expected to complete three hours of Language Arts per week. As always if you have any questions, want additional resources, or are unsure of anything, please do not hesitate to reach out to me via my work email and I will be happy to help in any way.

Each day of Language Arts will consist of:

Read-to-Self - Students should be reading an appropriate book at their level for approximately 15 minutes each day. If they have time to read more, they are encouraged to do so.

Daily Writing Prompt - I have attached new writing prompts for students to complete. They will find three of them for this week. Students are asked to write as much as they possibly can and be creative with the topics given. This should take approximately 20 minutes.

Word Work – I have attached additional blank copies of word work sheets for students to use. Students may choose 10 words from the book they are currently reading and use those for their weekly words. There are many different activities provided on the sheet that students may complete using those words. They should be doing this for approximately 15 minutes each day.

Dreamscape/Squiggle Park/Online Games – I would like you to try three new links this week that you did not use last week. If you have tried all of them and are looking for more, please reach out to me. I have included a page of links that gives students access to several online games covering topics that are often used in class, particularly with sight words, nouns, verbs, and adjectives for grade 3. Reminder that some of these may require making a free account or Flash Player. Students also have access to either Dreamscape or Squiggle Park. Also, for those playing Dreamscape that they must read the questions thoroughly before answering. If they do not know their username or password to either game, please email me and I will get them the information right away. They should be playing one of these for approximately 20 minutes each day.

Sight Words – For those students still working towards reading at level I, I have attached your sight words to practice. These can also be used as your word work words for the week. If you are struggling to remember which level you are reading at, please reach out to me and I am happy to help.
