We are working on the letters q and r this week.  Have your child show you the signals that queeny quail and robbie rabbit make.  Show and tell will be on Thursday.  Be creative when finding things that start with the letters q and r!   Our school Remembrance Day ceremony will be held on Thursday, November 10th at 10:30.  The Kindergarten classes will be singing "Do You Know Where I Find Peace".  The lyrics to the song can be found in the documents section of our page.  Please encourage your child to practice the song at home.

We are now beginning our first unit on Numbers.  In this unit, children explore the numbers 1 to 5.  Children need lots of practice using numbers in situations where they can be successful and have fun.  As they play games and participate in meaningful counting activities, they develop concepts about counting that provide the foundation for future mathematics learning.  Encourage your child to find opportunities to count to 5.   These are the key learning goals for this unit: You can count the things in a set in any order. For example, if you count a red truck, a blue truck, and a green truck, you can start counting with any of the trucks and count them in any order.  The number of trucks is always the same: 3. The things you count do not need to be the same.  For example, you can count a book, a crayon, and a shoe to find out there are 3 things.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!  This is a short but busy week in Kindergarten.    We will be working on the letters i and j this week.  For Show and Tell on Friday please bring in something that begins with these letters.  Be creative!   In Math, we will continue to work on the numbers 1 to 5.    This is fire safety week so we will learn some tricks for staying safe and some fire fighters will be in to teach us what to do in case of a fire.   Our sight words this week are: a, and, am.  We will practice using these words in lots of fun and different ways.   We will keep building our stamina in Read to Self and will also learn how to Read to Someone.
