The players and coaches of our grade 2/3 soccer team were all smiles following our season ending soccer jamboree. The players represented our school exceptionally well with a solid effort by all. All participating teams appreciated the invite to attend and had a great time being active. All district teams were treated to subs, water and veggie snacks sponsored by Tom Burns and Cutting Edge Fitness. A special thanks goes out to our coaches Kim Stewart, Greg Scott, Scott Seely and Tom Burns! Stay tuned for an upcoming GG Times episode by jr. reporters of this wonderful event.
Our grade 3-5 soccer team finished our soccer jamboree this evening with a perfect 3-0 record on their way to the gold medal. The team played hard, played fair and had a lot of fun along the way. It was nice to have our Home & School provide a great barbecue and the fantastic weather made the night complete! A special thanks to Mr. Cabel and Ms. Gardiner for a great job coaching our winning squad this year!
Our annual school fundraiser officially kicked off today, Monday, October 7th and will run until Friday, October 18th. Again this year, we will be using QSP Magazine Subscriptions and the Norcard Gift Shoppe Catalogue. This fundraiser will help to support school based activities throughout the year and we would appreciate your support! Check out Students' Corner for our promotional video outlining some of the great prizes available for students to win.
Students and parents are all reminded that there will be no school on October 10th and 11th due to professional development days for teachers and support staff. Monday, October 14th will also be a holiday for students in recognition of the Thanksgiving Holiday. Enjoy the extended weekend boys and girls!
Grade Two students interested in participating in drama were given schedules for the month of October (please see the schedule posted under "School Documents" if you don't have a copy). We are very excited to have our new members join us! Grade Two students attend the practices for "Grade Two poets".
Our school based recycling program has rolled under the guidance of Mme Gallant, Mrs Roy and their students. Jaden, George and Julianna took it upon themselves to create a presentation and visit each class sharing the proper ways to recycle at Gretna Green. Thanks so much boys and girls!
We would like to welcome our new Principal and Vice Principal for a day at Gretna Green. Principal Mr. Richard and Vice Principal, Ms. Desroches look forward to their new postion for a day at Gretna Green. Their names were selected from a draw following our Terry Fox Fundraiser. Congratulations to the both of you and have a good day!
Our very own Morgan participated in the annual Pumpkin Fling competition over the weekend and took home second place honors. Way to go Morgan, you have the magic touch!
