Ms. McGuigan and her literacy students from MVHS were our special guests at Gretna Green this morning. Ms. McGuigan's students wrote their own stories and took the opportunity to share them with the students of Gretna Green. It truly was a memorable experience for everyone involved and we can proudly say that we have created a new partnership in literacy. Thank you MVHS! Stay tuned for our next GG Times video that helped capture today's special learning opportunity.
An interesting sidenote to today's construction of the concrete slab for our 30 Year Proud Gazebo unfolded this afternoon. The first principal of Gretna Green Elementary 30 years ago, Mr. Donald Donahue, embedded his hand print along side our youngest Gretna Green student, Chase in Ms. Girouard's kindergarten class today. These two hand prints helped to symbolize the connection with Gretna Green's past and future. Check out the image gallery for some of the highlights.
Bobby Hitchman and his crew were busy volunteering their time, materials and expertise in pouring concrete slabs for our new school storage garage and gazebo. The new storage garage will provide storage for our new bicycles, snow shoes and skiis that are all part of our outdoor classroom project. The "30 Year Proud Gazebo" is a Home & School funded initiative that will not only help to commemorate the 30th anniversary of our fine school but provide an excellent space for all of our students! We will keep you all posted on the continued progress of these two great initiatives.
