We would like to remind all parents that the first day of school for students will be Wednesday, September 5th. Kindergarten students will be following the staggered entry as already scheduled. Enjoy these last few days of summer holidays and we look forward to seeing you in the new year.
We would like to take this time to thank our entire learning community of Gretna Green for making this year a great one! Both teachers and students are ready to unwind and enjoy the weeks of summer holidays that lay ahead. The entire learning community of Gretna Green would like to graciously thank Mrs. Simmons for her many years of dedication as our principal. Her passion, dedication and vision for Gretna Green has enabled this school to grow and prosper into a wonderful place to be! Our former Princpal Award has been renamed the Mrs. Carolyn Simmons Award in her honor. This year's recipient was Alexis Matchett. We thank you Mrs. Simmons and look forward to having you make a continued positive impact on our students in the classroom in the new year!!!
Mrs. Charlotte Loggie, D16 Enrichement Coordinator, recently brought five students in grades 3 to 4 for a historical walking tour of Douglastown. During their tour they visited the Rankin House, Seaman's Hospital and the waterfront trail with help from local historical interpretor, Cyril Donahue. The tour was a big hit for the students and they look forward to continuing on with their project in the Fall! Check out our gallery for more photos!
Mr. Ryan accompanied his school archery team to their year end archery jamboree held at MVHS over the weekend. The team scored exceptionally well and placed forth overall. They also had some respectable individual finishes as well. Gretna Green Team #2 finished in fourth place with a score of 1064. Gretna Green Team and #1 finished in 7th with 1026 points. Wade Thibault finished 4th in individual scoring with 256 points! Other strong scores were Alexis Matchett with 222, Kaitlyn Munroe with 220 and Lauren Simmons with 208 points. Thanks again to Mr.

14 of our grades 3-5 students participated in our annual Speak Out program. This was held today in our gymnasium. Top three finalist were: First place - Kale Power; Second Place - Abigail Smith and Third Place - Megan Copp. Congratulations to all participants! Thank you to the Lion's Club for their continued support with this program and thank you to Mr. Comeau for organizing our students!
The GG Drama Club will be
performing their musical The Granny Awards next Wednesday night, May 30, at the
MVHS theatre. The performance will start at 7:00 pm and everyone is welcome to
attend. Students are asked to meet at the theatre at 6:30 in order to get
ready.
The second Policy 409 consultation for parents was held on May 22nd, 2012 at Miramichi Valley High School. At this meeting, the following 3 recommendations were submitted:1. Build a new K-8 school to house students currently attending Croft Elementary, Harkins Elementary, Gretna Green Elementary and Harkins Middle. This school should be built to incorporate Early Childhood services. Close all existing schools.2. Build a new K-8 school to house students currently attending Croft Elementary, Harkins Elementary and Harkins Middle.
