The second Policy 409 consultation for parents was held on May 22nd, 2012 at Miramichi Valley High School. At this meeting, the following 3 recommendations were submitted:1. Build a new K-8 school to house students currently attending Croft Elementary, Harkins Elementary, Gretna Green Elementary and Harkins Middle. This school should be built to incorporate Early Childhood services. Close all existing schools.2. Build a new K-8 school to house students currently attending Croft Elementary, Harkins Elementary and Harkins Middle.

Congratulations to Cassidy Savoie the Rotary Turnaround Achievement Award winner for Gretna Green!  Cassidy's success was celebrated Thursday evening at the Rodd.  We are very proud of Cassidy and she is a role model for all us to follow.

 Congratulations to our very own Brydie Trevors and Shane Johnson who recently took 3rd place honors in the second annual Kin Film Festival over the weekend.  Their video received plenty of positive comments and they also brought home a cash prize of $100.00!  Bravo Brydie and Shane we are all so proud of you!

The 2012 Go for 42 challenge is starting at Gretna Green Elementary.This challenge encourages all school children in the Miramichi area to accumulate 40 kilometers of walking or running over a 5 week period. On June 24th all the participants are invited to complete a 2.2 kilometer distance on the streets of Newcastle-Miramichi in conjunction with the Rock ‘n Run Road Race, thus completing the Marathon distance of 42.2 kilometers.

Students from Gretna Green Elementary and Harkins Elementary rocked it today with Paul Behnke and his Bully in the Purple Pants perfomance!  The performance was aimed at teaching students how to deal with bulllies. For more information on what the children learned today check out Paul's website.  www.paulbehnke.on.ca  See the image gallery for more pictures!

 Erica Fitzpatrick led students, parents, teachers and GG alumni through an entertaining session of zumbatonics last night at Gretna Green.  The evening was organized as a means of continuing our fundraising campaign for our neighbors in Perth Andover.  $150.00 more was raised!  Thank you Erica!

The Miramichi Police have been called to investigate recent vandalism at Gretna Green Elementary.  Our school community is very disheartened by the recent acts of vandalism.  We ask that our parents and community be on the watch to help us end this.  If you see anything that is concerning please alert the School Administration or the Miramichi Police.
