District 16 technology mentors, Mr.Hayward and Mr. Savoy provided a fun filled morning for the grade five students of Gretna Green Elementary. The students participated in their first official geocaching session of the year in Story Land park. Each cache had a part of a word puzzle that could only be solved once all of the caches were found using their GPS units. All the caches were also associated with a specific Christmas carol that had to be solved by each team of students. This activity proved to be an authentic differentiated activity for our grade five students. Thanks again to Mr.
The grade five Intensive French students of Gretna Green
Elementary have been working on a collaborative French technology project
with their partnered school, Vincent Massey Elementary. On December 4th, they met with their respective "pod pals" in our province's capital. The students' visit to Fredericton was made possible by Capital Encounters. Our GG Times crew enjoyed a private
interview with our respective Miramichi Bay Du Vin MLA, Bill Fraser
along with Speaker of the House, Honourable Ron Boudreau. Check out our latest GG Times video for a full summary of our trip!
On Friday, December 4, Kindergarten and Grade 3 classes went to District office to help decorate for Christmas. All Gretna Green students made a star for the Christmas tree. The stars have their pictures on one side and their wish for Christmas on the other. Our Superintendent, Mr. Keoughan helped out by placing the star on top of the tree for us. Check out the Image Gallery to see more pictures.
The grade 4/5 boys' baketball team will be playing their first "away" game of the season vs. Croft Elementary on Monday, December 7th. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 and finish at 4:30. Our very own A.J., Bailey and Zachary took part in a memorable project today at the media studio located at James M. Hill. They had the unique opportunity to interview local WWII veteran, Mr. John Forbes. This video was created for its eventual submission into a national contest called, The National Video A Veteran Contest, sponsored by Friends of Veterans Canada.
