Basketball starts November 21 for grades 4-5 and grades 2-3. We are still in need of coaches for both our grade 2-3 teams, the boys and girls. If you are interested please contact Mrs. Simmons or Mr. Comeau at 778-6099.
Mr. Comeau's grade three class recently created a cool video as an invitation to the honorable
minister of education, Jody Carr, to host our morning announcements.
Well, Mr. Carr tweeted yesterday that he would "love to" host our morning
announcements. Congratulations to the entire team on a job well done
and a special thank you to Mrs. Simmons for creating this unique
learning opportunity.
The Miramichi fire department responded to a special call at Gretna Green this evening. The special call included a $1000.00 donation towards our breakfast program. After many months of fundraising the local area fire fighters made a special donation to six area schools and we were one of them. The entire learning community of Gretna Green would like to thank all members for this random act of kindness and support!
Mr Ryan's Outdoor Adventure Club took their biking adventures to the Enclosure today as a year end bike run. The weather cooperated and the team got to explore another cool network of trails that are available on the Miramichi. Thanks again to the parents who joined us and to the positive attitude and great spirit shown by our students throughout the trip!
The entire learning community of Gretna Green Elementary would like to congratulate our very own Ms. Matheson on her latest accomplishment. Ms. Matheson received her Masters in Education from UNB during the October 20th convocation held in Fredericton. We all know this took a huge comittment and high level of dedication on her part. Way to go Ms. Matheson, we are all so proud of you!!!
The Halloween festvities "wrapped" up today with a costume parade and our annual wrap the teacher event. There were plenty of awesome costumes to be seen and it was certainly a great kick off to our Halloween weekend. Thanks so much to each and every student who took part in all of our daily activities this week. The school spirit is alive and well at Gretna Green!
Represenatives from the S'Cool Life Fund and KFC made a special appearance to Gretna Green today. They surprised all of our students with a unique surprise. The surprise included a $3000.00 cheque in support of student based projects for the coming year! Last year's principal, Mr. Rodney Buggie, applied for funding and was successful! Although Mr. Buggie may not be our principal this year he has certainly left a legacy of success that will be enjoyed by our students for years to come. Thank you Mr. Buggie!
Congratulation to Jayden MacPherson and Jacob DeWolfe who won Student of the Month for October. As well congratulation to Mrs. Dickson's Grade 4 Class and Mrs. Foran's Kindergarten for winning Class of the Month for October! Bravo!!
