Homework - Week of January 7, 2014

Homework is assigned every Monday.  Students will take home their reading bag and their homework notebook.  Both are to be returned to school on Friday. Students will find two leveled books and two "Good Fit" books in their reading bag.  They are to read for at least 10 minutes every night.  It is not necessary to finish reading all books, so long as they are reading for at least 10 minutes each night.  On days when the students have had Guided Reading, they will bring their book home to read.  Those books are to be returned to school the following day. Each student has a reading strategy bookmark in their reading bag.  These bookmarks are to be returned to school along with their reading bag at the end of the week.  Students are to keep these strategies in mind when reading at home. Reading Comprehension:  "New Year's Resolutions" Math:  "Studying the Facts" Spelling:  Study words.  Test Friday. On Friday, we will have a special post-Christmas Show and Tell.  Students may bring in any one item so long as they can fit it in their bookbag.  It is best if students leave expensive and/or easily breakable items home, just in case.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and I am looking forward to hearing your stories when you come back to school tomorrow.  Thank you so much for the thoughtful cards, pictures, and gifts you gave me at Christmas time.  It was very much appreciated!  Welcome back!

Homework - Week of October 21

Homework is assigned every Monday.  Students will take home their reading bag and their homework notebook.  Both are to be returned to school on Friday. Homework is assigned every Monday.  Students will take home their reading bag and their homework notebook.  Both are to be returned to school on Friday. Students will find two leveled books and two "Good Fit" books in their reading bag.  They are to read for at least 10 minutes every night.  It is not necessary to finish reading all books, so long as they are reading for at least 10 minutes each night. For the week of October 7, students will only read for at least 10 minutes each night.  There is no other homework nor is there a spelling test. Book orders are due Friday, October 18.

Spare Change for Terry Fox

        Some students from Mrs. Simmons's class recently paid us a visit.  They are organizing the Spare Change Drive for our annual Terry Fox Walk.  For each $1.00 donated, students will receive a ballot in the Principal/Vice-Principal for a Day draw!

 The boys and girls in 2B have been exploring the world around them while studying You And Your World with Mr. Comeau.  Their goal this week is to come home with some cool facts so feel free to ask them what they may have learned.

Please complete the green Media Release consent and return it to school.  Book orders are due Friday, September 13.

Call for Comfy Seats!

Do you have an old bean bag chair, couch, or any other comfortable seat that you plan on throwing out?  Grade 2B is looking for a comfy seat or two for the children to use during their Daily 5 Read to Self time.  If you have such a seat that you would be willing to donate, please email me at branskrm@nbed.nb.ca or send a note in your child's home folder.  Thank you!

Greetings Grade 2!!!

Welcome back everyone!  I am very excited to be your grade 2 teacher this year and I can't wait to see you all on Tuesday!  I hope you have lots of stories ready to share about your summer adventures... I know I do!  Tell your grown-ups to check their mailboxes as there is a letter there waiting for each of you.  I do have a couple of surprises for you.  Mr. Paul Daley, a teacher intern from UNB, will be with us next week and every Monday after that.  He will be teaching our class for three weeks starting in late November.  Also, Mr. Comeau is going to be teaching You and Your World while I work on my Vice-Principal tasks in the office.  It is going to be a great year!  See you all on Tuesday!
