Dear parents/guardians,

Communication between teachers and parents is very important. I hope the following information will help you understand certain aspects of your child's school year experience.

Masks:

Please ensure your child has two clean masks for school. Reusable masks have been placed at all entrances if your child happens to forget or misplace their own. Hand sanitizer has also been placed in all classrooms and throughout the school.

Phys.Ed:

Physical Education will be taught by Mr. Ryan every morning for 30 minutes. Please make sure your child has a pair of indoor sneakers in order to participate.

English Language Arts:

The English Language Arts will be taught by Mr. Tozer. Students will receive 150 minutes of English throughout the week.

Book orders:

Scholastic book orders will be sent home monthly. This is a great opportunity to build your child’s French library. Your orders also help us earn books for our classrooms.

Homework/Notices:

All important notices will be kept in a green home folder bag. Bags will be sent home after school. Please ensure bags are returned DAILY. Homework for the most part will include reading (books, sound sheets, poem, etc.). On top of homework, whatever activities left incomplete by the end of the day and/or week will be sent home. Please ensure anything that can be sanitized i.e. book covers are cleaned prior to being returned.

*With that being said, I hope this home folder bag will be easier to organize your family’s schedule, as I encourage children to get involved in extracurricular activities, play outdoors, spend time with family, etc. I do not hand out very much homework unless otherwise requested :)

I will also be posting all information related to our class on our school’s website http://gretnagreen.nbed.nb.ca/ weekly. Please click on my teacher page Mr. Glazier. I will post class photos, videos, projects and audio files. Please keep checking my website for updates.  It is very important that you verify our school website on a regular basis in order to know what is going on with your child’s daily school life and any school event(s).

Other information:

  • Please send a note if your child will be absent or when there is a change in the child’s routine. Your child will be sent on the bus if I do not have a note stating that he/she should not take it. Another option to notify the school about your child's attendance will also be rolling out in the near future. Please stay tuned.
  • Please ensure your child has a water bottle.
  • GG is a peanut free school.
  • Please contact me via e-mail ryan.glazier@nbed.nb.ca if you have any comments and/or concerns. I teach from 8:30 - 2:25, therefore I will only be able to contact you via phone afterwards.

Thank you so much for your cooperation. Remember that I have your child’s education at heart.

Let’s work together to make school a positive and safe learning environment for all!

Cheers,

M.Glazier :)

We are off to Kouchibouguac Friday. Students are very excited and the weather looks promising! We have been watching Park's Canada videos and looking at photos of where we will be visiting. Great opportunity to practice our French and learn about ecosystems.  Due to COVID-19, volunteers are not permitted on our excursions/bubbles. I would suggest packing bug spray along with other items suggested on your permission slip. I will post pictures next week. Cheers :)

Welcome back! Only 4 more weeks remain.

Each year, on September 30th, ASD-N staff and students are invited to participate in “Orange Shirt Day”.  This day is designed to educate and bring awareness to Canadians about the Canadian Indian residential school system that existed in our country and the impact it has had on Indigenous Communities and people for more than a century.

With recent news regarding the former Kamloops Indian Residential School, ASD-N would like to renew awareness.

To honour the lives of these 215 children and all children who perished or never returned home due to the Residential School system, and to honour the experiences of the survivors, we are asking staff and students to wear an orange shirt tomorrow, Monday, May 31st.   ASD-N is very fortunate to have strong relationships with Mi’kmaq communities, and one in every seven students in our district is of First Nation heritage.  Please wear orange on Monday, and renew the call that Every Child Matters (ASD-N)

Few Reminders:

Monday - Year end field trip notice sent home to be signed and returned

Tuesday - library

FRENCH - I continue to read with students and am in the process of finalizing year end reading assessment. I have seen many personal gains across the board this year. We are also in the process of drafting our year end writing assignment this week. Next week will students will write their good copies.

Math - We completed our district assessment last week. The remainder of our time will serve as a review of materials covered this year.

Science - We will "dig deep" and discuss the difference amongst soil layers. I plan to go outside and have students make observations by digging a large soil pit.

Health - We will be distinguishing the differences in emotional states and activities we partake in from childhood up to adulthood.

If you have any questions/concerns, please feel free to e-mail me. I will call ASAP. Let's have a great week a GG.
