Happy last week of February!  This is student appreciation week and there are so many exciting activities planned to show the students at Gretna Green just how fantastic they all are!Tomorrow (Tuesday, February 26th) is "Come in Character" day!  Students are encouraged to come to school dressed as their favorite literary character!  I also ask that you send them to school with the book that the character is from, as your child will be doing a small presentation for the class! If you are stuck and looking for an idea, Robert Munsch books are filled with easy, yet wonderful ideas!  (ex:  "Stephanie's Ponytail" or "Aaron's Hair")  Wednesday:  Pj day!  Just crawl out of bed and come to school!  (*Free popcorn for all students!*) Thursday:  School spirit day:  wear green and gold to celebrate our amazing school! (Library day!)Friday:  Spell-a-thon assembley and teacher/student hockey game!  Also, we will be having a bucket filler show and tell!  Students are asked to bring an item (a photograph, a hand drawn picture etc) to show how they have been filling buckets!  They may also tell the class a story of a time they filled a bucket.   We are taking this week to review all of our sight words and zoohpnics. We have some super fun games and activities lined up!  Please check your childs home folder nightly!   Have a marvelous week!!!

Wow!  Another wonderful week to be in Kindergarten at Gretna Green Elementary!  Today we held our 100th day Celebration with the other K-2 classes.  Be sure to check your child’s home folders to see what marvelous creations they made!  I was also very impressed with the 100 day projects that were brought in on Friday!  Stay tuned for pictures! Friday, February 22nd is spell-a-thon day.   We will be reviewing the list of words in class, but be sure to practice at home as well!  Thursday is library day.  Please remember to bring your books back so you can get a new and fabulous book! Mr. Stewart will be hosting a Bucket Filler assembly on Friday morning.  We have been working so hard to be bucket fillers in this class!  Ask your child a few different ways to fill buckets.  The Home and School is hosting a “Family Winterlude” on Sunday, February 24th from 1:00-3:00pm.  A variety of fantastic winter activities will be offered, such as skating, skiing and snowshoeing!  Hot chocolate and hot dogs will also be available.  Have an incredible week!!!

Happy Monday!  What an exciting week we have ahead of us!  Thursday is Valentine’s Day and Friday is the 100th day of school!  On Valentine’s Day, we will be handing out our class valentines before lunch time.  After lunch, from 1:00-2:00 we will be skating!!!  Parent volunteers are more than welcome to join us for this fabulous Valentine’s Day fun!  Thursday is also “Pink Shirt Day”! Wear pink to show that you are against bullying! We are reviewing our "5 Senses" this week with a delicious valentines theme!  Ask your child to tell you about the projects they presented to the class!  Each table had a different sense and they taught the rest of the class all about that sense! (Some even made up a catchy little tune!) Friday is our 100th day of school!  Time sure does fly when you are busy learning!  Our show and tell will be the 100 day projects that some students chose to do for homework! Our new sight words this week are:  “Not” and “Am”.  Please practice these sight words at home and see if your child can find them when you are reading together!I hope you have a magnificent week!!!!
