The Gretna Green Drama Club will present their musical Who Pushed Humpty? Wednesday night at 7 pm in the gymnasium. This production was successfully performed at the District 16 Elementary Drama Festival on Tuesday, May 25. All drama students are asked to meet in the music room at 6:30 pm.
A group of paramedics from NB Ambulance visited Gretna Green on Wednesday, May 19. Students learned about what it takes to be a paramedic. They also learned about the things that paramedics use when they are at an accident scene. Thanks to NB Ambulance for a fun and interesting afternoon!
The winning streak of the Gretna Green school soccer team continued on throughout the District 16 Soccer Jamboree over the weekend. They faced off against St. Andrews Elementary in the championship game and came away with a 5-2 victory. The team was happy to see Mr. Ryan return to coach the team during the jamboree. The entire team played hard, played fair and had fun! Congratulations to the entire team!
On Friday, May 14, Gretna Green students participated in a walk to help support Miramichi Youth House. At recess time, students went to the gym and walked for 15 minutes. Students were encouraged to donate a loonie! Altogether, Gretna Green staff and students donated at total of $120.00 to support this very worthy cause.
The Douglastown Lion's Club sponsored our oratory contest again this year. It took place today, Wednesday May 12, 2010 in our cafeteria. There were 15 contestants from grades 3, 4 and 5. Congratulations to this year's winners, First place - Janessa Sweezey, Second place - Christopher Cooke and Third place - Lexy Peterson. Congratulations as well to all the students selected they did a super job!!
This year, Ms. Bransfield's grade 4 class participated in the Annual Kindness Club Writing Contest. Ms. Bransfield received a letter praising the creativity of the entries. Two students, Brandon Breau and Simone Walz, were given Honourable Mentions for their "outstanding work"! Brandon and Simone each received a certificate and an environmental book for their hard work. Congratulations!
The Gretna Green floor hockey team won their Allison Cup final game vs. Croft today by a score of 8-4. The team played exceptionally well all season and their success continued throughout the playoffs. We are all so proud of you boys and girls, bravo!!!
The school soccer jamboree that was postponed due to inclement weather last Fall has been rescheduled to May 15th. Gretna Green will be hosting this event once again this year. The tournament schedule has been posted under the documents section of this page. The jamboree is always a fun event and we hope to see all of our players come out and play.
Please note that there is No School Thursday, May 6th and Friday, May 7th. Teachers have their Annual General NBTA Meeting and their NBTA Subject Council day! Enjoy the short school week and the extra long weekend!
The 2nd Annual Home and School Spell-A-Thon was a huge success! Students raised over $9000.00. We are well on our way to upgrading our playground!! Top prize winners are: 1st place - Paige Trevors(Ipod Touch), 2nd place - Kaitlyn Comeau(DSi), 3rd place - Hilary Doran(Digital Camera). The class prize of a Wii Entertainment system was won by 3L and the movie gift certificate was won by Madison Matchett. All students that raised funds will be treated to an ice cream party! Thanks to our school community for your support with fundraiser!
