Our Breakfast Program fundraiser proved to be the best ever. Over 350 items were donated in addition to $490.00 in donations. The support received from our entire learning community was fantastic! These sizeable donations will allow our Home & School to continue to offer our daily breakfast program for all students well into the new year. The top fundraising class for K-2 was Mrs. Girouard's class and Mme Lockerbie's grade 3 class won for 3-5. Both classes will receive a pizza party, congratulations!
Thanks again to all the teachers, students, parents and grand parents who joined us today for our annual Walking School Bus walk. We had an excellent turn out. Thanks again to all of you for all of your support!
Gretna Green students went to the polls today to vote for this year's Student Council. Ivy was selected as secretary and Max will be our new vice president. Eden received the nod from the majority of voters as our new Student Council president! Class reps for this year are as follows, Ryan, Cole, Charles, Riley, Ava, Erica, Evan, Michael and Drayden. What an awesome team! Thanks to Ms. Morehouse for organizing this year's election and overseeing our student council throughout the year.
All we can say is ... wow! Entering our final week of our breakfast program fundraiser we have already filled our shopping cart twice and Mrs Clark's desk is full. It is so refreshing to see the amount of support Gretna Green receives from its many awesome families! Our fundraiser will end on Friday, September 26th. The winning pizza party winners will be announced on Monday.
The students and staff of Gretna Green would like to thank the Humphreys' family for their kind donation once again this year of smiley cookies! They were a wonderful treat and a great way to finish off the week.
Drama auditions for this year's Christmas production, A Snow White Christmas, will take place after school on Friday, September 19, from 2:30 to 3:30. Students will receive their audition script on Tuesday. Remember, the part you audition for will not necessarily be the part you receive! Good luck to everyone!
Gretna Green will be hosting the first district cross country meet of the season on Wednesday, September 17th after school. Students are reminded to please bring the necessary clothing and foot wear to run and have fun! Thanks to Home & School who will be providing a BBQ for the event. Drinks and hot dogs will be $1.00 each.
Our Home & School committee has been providing breakfasts for the past 3 years. Now they need your support. They are seeking donations of the following items, cheeze whiz, apple juice, and "Guest" strawberry jam. A shopping cart will be placed in the office area for you to drop off your donations. The apple juice and Kraft Cheeze Whiz are probably the most needed items.
All parents and students are invited to our annual open house being held on Thursday, September 11th at 6:00pm in our school cafeteria. This will give all parents the opportunity to meet their child's teacher in an informal setting while snacking on fruits and veggies! Please bring some spare change for our 50/50 draw. Who knows ... this year's winner just might be you!
We would like to remind all parents and students that the first day of school for students will be Tuesday, September 2nd. Kindergarten students will be following the staggered entry as already scheduled. Our cafeteria will be up and running Monday, September 8th. Please see our school homepage for other information regarding our cafeteria. Our Home & School Breakfast Program will also be running on Monday, September 8th. Please don't forget your $50.00 fee for school supplies, thanks. Enjoy these last few days of summer holidays and we look forward to seeing you in the new year!!!
