The Heart & Stroke Foundation recognize the importance of physical fitness and healthy eating and the impact they both have on the overall health of our children. The Calgary Fiddlers made their way from Alberta to Gretna Green this week and wowed the crowd with their talents, dancing and theatrics! The 13 member music troupe left us all foot stomping, "yahooing" and looking for more. A special thanks goes out to Susan Butler and the Calgary Fiddlers for making this experience a pleasurable one for everyone involved. Yahoo!
Our first ever school fishing club has been created this year with students in grades 3-4 looking forward to some bass fishing. This unique opportunity will provide our members the opportunity to get out and enjoy the Miramichi outdoors. We look forward to a fun week filled week with physical activity and some great memories! Wal-Mart partnered with our Home & School in providing a BBQ fundraising event at the front entrance of their store today. It proved to be a great success with plenty of support shown by the Miramichi community. Many thanks goes out to the parents and volunteers who helped make today such a huge success. A special thanks goes out to parents, Merle Campbell and Renee Squires who stuck it out the entire day preparing hot dogs, thanks!

Local track & field enthusiasts have organized an excellent physical fitness opportunity for students in K-6 throughout the Miramichi area. Track & field events will be organized for prospective participants in a fun and interactive format that will allow everyone involved to be exposed to a new sport and healthy lifestyle.

The Gretna Green Home & School will be holding a fundraising BBQ on Saturday, May 10th at Wal-Mart from 11:00 am - 6:00 pm. They will be selling hot dogs, sausages, pop and water. All funds raised will be matched by Wal-Mart Miramichi and used for various projects at Gretna Green. If any parent is able to volunteer their time to help out with the BBQ, please contact the school at 778-6099 with the specific time you will be available to volunteer. We can then set up a schedule for volunteers.
