Welcome back! It was nice to see many Gretna Green students partaking in the Striper Cup/Rib Fest/Kid Zone activities this past weekend at Richie Warf. Way to go Gators!

  • Bouctouche Dunes field trip notice due by Friday

  • Elementary Jungle Book dress rehearsal will take place this Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.

  • First ever GG Market Fair will take place Thursday from 9:00 – 1:20. A variety of products created by middle level students will be available to view and purchase. Our class will by going to visit and support.

French – We will be talking about our neighborhoods this week. Books along with two animal review sheets will be sent home to practice.

Guided reading will also take place with myself during our Daily 5. Please note that year end expectation for students is to be within the F-G-H range.

Math – Our focus this week will be solids. Students will be creating their own with the use of marshmallows and toothpicks. Friday, students will be giving a STEM challenge with remaining materials.  Please feel free to go to Learn Alberta website found in my web links to practice various outcomes. Math Reflex is also another great resource that students have been practice here at school.

Health - We will review material covered thus far.

Social Studies – Students continue their own maps and begin to incorporate all characteristics. Throughout, explore what is unique about our province.

Science – We will review the different soil types before moving outdoors creating soil pits to see what we can discover.

Welcome back! I trust everyone enjoyed their long weekend. Please note the following:

  • Last week’s Gr.5 yard sale will now that place this Thursday in our school’s music room

  • Bouctouche Dunes field trip notice will be sent home on Wednesday.

French – We will continue to leisure/free time activities as our oral structure. New books related to the unit will continue to be rehearsed and sent home. Our weekly poem “Grand et Petit” will also be sent home.

Guided reading will also take place with myself during our Daily 5. Please note that year end expectation for students is to be within the F-G-H range.

Math – Fraction unit test has been corrected. They will be sent home to be signed. We will be working on graphing and tallies for the next two weeks. Please feel free to go to Learn Alberta website found in my web links to practice various outcomes. Math Reflex is also another great resource that students have been practice here at school.

Health - We will continue to discuss feelings and how one expresses their emotions. Students will perform various skits and play charades.

Social Studies – Students continue their own maps and begin to incorporate all characteristics. Throughout, explore what is unique about our province.

Science – We will begin our Soils unit this week. Our focus will be terms and definitions before we move outdoors to explore various soils types and the importance they play.

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone this past weekend. Please note that next Monday is Victoria Day Weekend.

Our year end field trip has been book. We will be travelling to the Bouctouche Dune’s on June 7th. A notice will be sent home a week prior.

French – We will continue to leisure/free time activities as our oral structure. We will discuss when we can enjoy such activities. New books related to the unit will continue to be rehearsed and sent home. Our weekly poem “Je suis un enfant” will also be sent home.

Guided reading will also take place with myself during our Daily 5. Please note that year end expectation for students is to be within the F-G-H range.

Math - We will complete our Fractions unit this week. Next week we will explore graphing. In June, students will learn about .0geometry and review mental fact facts taught throughout the year. Health - We will be discussing feelings and how one expresses their emotions. Students will perform various skits and play charades.

Social Studies – Students will begin to create their own maps and begin to incorporate all characteristics. Throughout, we continue to talk about the province of N.B.

Science – This week will serve as a review. Next week, we will move on to our Soils unit.

Welcome back! Spring like weather is finally upon us. Morning recesses will now take place outside.

French - This week’s focus will be leisure/free time activities. We will specifically explore with whom and where we enjoy such activities. New books related to the unit will continue to be rehearsed and sent home. Our weekly poem “Dans mon jardin” will also be sent home. A link to the video will be posted in my teacher page.

Guided reading will also take place with myself during our Daily 5. Whilst a group is reading, others will be working in various centers. Students will receive new book within a 4 day cycle to be brought home along with their new sound and song/poem sheet of the week. Please note that year end expectation for students is to be within the F-G-H range.

Math - We will complete our Measure unit test on Monday. We began last Wednesday. We will be moving on to Fractions.  They will be corrected and sent home to be signed by Friday. Please feel free to go to Learn Alberta website found in my web links to practice various outcomes. Math Reflex is also another great resource that students have been practice here at school.

Health - We will be discussing personal habits i.e. coughing and sneezing into our sleeves, brushing our teeth, etc.

Social Studies - Topography and the various terrains situated within our province will continue to be the order of the week.

Science - We will use the week to finish up last minute assignments and review. Due to last week’s condense classes. Later in the month, we will be moving on to our Soils unit.

Welcome back! Please note that there will be no school this upcoming Thursday May 2nd and Friday May 3rd. Professional learning will be taking place across ASD-N.

French - We have finished our Family unit. This week’s focus will be an introduction to what our favorite activities/leisure times are.  New books related to the unit will be rehearsed and sent home. Our weekly poem “mai” will also be sent home to practice as well.

Guided reading will also take place with myself during our Daily 5. Whilst a group is reading, others will be working in various centers. Students will receive new book within a 4 day cycle to be brought home along with their new sound and song/poem sheet of the week. Please note that year end expectation for students is to be within the F-G-H range.

Math - We will review our measurement unit this week. Unit quiz to take place either Wednesday or next Monday. Health - We will continue to discuss needs versus wants and what overall health incorporates in order to live and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Science – Our plants have all been sent home. We will use the remainder of our week to finish up last minute assignments and review.

French - We continue with our Family unit. This week’s focus will be to create a descriptive booklet of our family. Students will be encouraged to utilize all the resources at their disposal i.e. word wall, visual dictionaries, etc.

Guided reading will also take place with myself during our Daily 5. Whilst a group is reading, others will be working in various centers. Students will receive new book within a 4 day cycle to be brought home along with their new sound and song/poem sheet of the week. Please note that year end expectation for students is to be within the F-G-H range.

Math - We will continue with perimeter this week. If time permits, we will make the distinction between estimating and measuring with centimeters vs meters.  Please feel free to go to Learn Alberta website found in my web links to practice various outcomes. Math Reflex is also another great resource that students have been practice here at school.

Health - We will be discussing needs versus wants and what overall health incorporates in order to live and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Social Studies - We continue to discuss the province of NB. This week’s focus will be topography and the various terrains situated within our province.

Science - We will continue to learn and label parts of a plant this week. Our bean plants have sprouted as well, so we will take the opportunity to look at them a little closer.

Welcome back! A reminder that April 19th is Good Friday and there will be no school.

*** Please ensure white homework binders are brought to school on Mondays for student’s weekly work and that reading bags are brought daily for notices, handouts, etc.***

French - We continue with our Family unit this week. Students will receive a family related book to read throughout the week. We will also incorporate an Easter theme as well progress through the week.

Guided reading will also take place with myself during our Daily 5. Whilst a group is reading, others will be working in various centers. Students will receive new book within a 4 day cycle to be brought home along with their new sound and song/poem sheet of the week. Please note that year end expectation for students is to be within the F-G-H range.

Math – We have been learning a lot about telling time the past 2 weeks in our Measurement unit. This week our focus will be on how to use a ruler and the difference between millimeters and centimeters. Next week, we will move on to measure perimeters. Health - We will again continue to discuss emotions. What makes us happy, sad, etc.

Social Studies - We continue to discuss the province of NB. Students will located the major cities within the province, and make reference in relation to each other.

Science - Students will finalize their plant dictionary. We will move on to learn and label parts of a plant this week.
