Welcome back! Spring like weather is finally upon us. Morning recesses will now take place outside.

French - This week’s focus will be leisure/free time activities. We will specifically explore with whom and where we enjoy such activities. New books related to the unit will continue to be rehearsed and sent home. Our weekly poem “Dans mon jardin” will also be sent home. A link to the video will be posted in my teacher page.

Guided reading will also take place with myself during our Daily 5. Whilst a group is reading, others will be working in various centers. Students will receive new book within a 4 day cycle to be brought home along with their new sound and song/poem sheet of the week. Please note that year end expectation for students is to be within the F-G-H range.

Math - We will complete our Measure unit test on Monday. We began last Wednesday. We will be moving on to Fractions.  They will be corrected and sent home to be signed by Friday. Please feel free to go to Learn Alberta website found in my web links to practice various outcomes. Math Reflex is also another great resource that students have been practice here at school.

Health - We will be discussing personal habits i.e. coughing and sneezing into our sleeves, brushing our teeth, etc.

Social Studies - Topography and the various terrains situated within our province will continue to be the order of the week.

Science - We will use the week to finish up last minute assignments and review. Due to last week’s condense classes. Later in the month, we will be moving on to our Soils unit.

Welcome back! Please note that there will be no school this upcoming Thursday May 2nd and Friday May 3rd. Professional learning will be taking place across ASD-N.

French - We have finished our Family unit. This week’s focus will be an introduction to what our favorite activities/leisure times are.  New books related to the unit will be rehearsed and sent home. Our weekly poem “mai” will also be sent home to practice as well.

Guided reading will also take place with myself during our Daily 5. Whilst a group is reading, others will be working in various centers. Students will receive new book within a 4 day cycle to be brought home along with their new sound and song/poem sheet of the week. Math - We will review our measurement unit this week. Unit quiz to take place either Wednesday or next Monday. Health - We will continue to discuss needs versus wants and what overall health incorporates in order to live and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Science – Our plants have all been sent home. We will use the remainder of our week to finish up last minute assignments and review.

French - We continue with our Family unit. This week’s focus will be to create a descriptive booklet of our family. Students will be encouraged to utilize all the resources at their disposal i.e. word wall, visual dictionaries, etc.

Guided reading will also take place with myself during our Daily 5. Whilst a group is reading, others will be working in various centers. Students will receive new book within a 4 day cycle to be brought home along with their new sound and song/poem sheet of the week. Please note that year end expectation for students is to be within the F-G-H range.

Math - We will continue with perimeter this week. If time permits, we will make the distinction between estimating and measuring with centimeters vs meters.  Please feel free to go to Learn Alberta website found in my web links to practice various outcomes. Math Reflex is also another great resource that students have been practice here at school.

Health - We will be discussing needs versus wants and what overall health incorporates in order to live and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Social Studies - We continue to discuss the province of NB. This week’s focus will be topography and the various terrains situated within our province.

Science - We will continue to learn and label parts of a plant this week. Our bean plants have sprouted as well, so we will take the opportunity to look at them a little closer.

Welcome back! A reminder that April 19th is Good Friday and there will be no school.

*** Please ensure white homework binders are brought to school on Mondays for student’s weekly work and that reading bags are brought daily for notices, handouts, etc.***

French - We continue with our Family unit this week. Students will receive a family related book to read throughout the week. We will also incorporate an Easter theme as well progress through the week.

Guided reading will also take place with myself during our Daily 5. Whilst a group is reading, others will be working in various centers. Students will receive new book within a 4 day cycle to be brought home along with their new sound and song/poem sheet of the week. Please note that year end expectation for students is to be within the F-G-H range.

Math – We have been learning a lot about telling time the past 2 weeks in our Measurement unit. This week our focus will be on how to use a ruler and the difference between millimeters and centimeters. Next week, we will move on to measure perimeters. Health - We will again continue to discuss emotions. What makes us happy, sad, etc.

Social Studies - We continue to discuss the province of NB. Students will located the major cities within the province, and make reference in relation to each other.

Science - Students will finalize their plant dictionary. We will move on to learn and label parts of a plant this week.

Welcome back! Here’s hoping April showers will bring May flowers and not more snow J

French - Our homework sheet for the week will be entitled “Le printemps” Our animal and pet unit will wrap up this week. We will be moving on to talk about our family next week. This week’s goal will be to continue completing our good copy of our funny/weird animal writing assignment.

Guided reading will also take place with myself during our Daily 5. Whilst a group is reading, others will be working in various centers. Students will receive new book within a 4 day cycle to be brought home along with their new sound and song/poem sheet of the week. Math – Multiplication and division test was held last Thursday. They will be corrected and sent home to be signed. We will begin Measurement (rulers, time, calendars, etc. Monday. Health - Our focus this week will again revolve around emotions. What makes us happy, sad, etc.

Social Studies - We continue to discuss the province of NB. Students will located the major cities within the province, and make reference in relation to each other.

Science – This week we will be potting bean and grass seeds in preparation for various experiments. From there, students will create a dictionary of plant terms.

Welcome back to our first week of April! A big thank you goes out to everyone who supported Renous’s bid to win Kraft Hockeyville. What an overwhelming success!

Please note that the Scholastic Book Fair is up and running this week. Time will be set aside for students to visit. The fair will also be open during parent teacher interviews.

Pizza will be served on Thursday. A notice was sent home with students’ report cards.

Welcome back to our last full week of March. I look forward to going outside in the near future for morning recess.

There will be a free breakfast this Thursday for all student in the cafeteria. Students will also be allowed to chew gum on Friday for $1 as a fundraiser to the grade 8 fieldtrip.

***Friday is also Jersey Day across ASD-N in support of Renous’s bid to win Kraft Hockeyville.

French - Our homework sheet for the week will be entitled “Le printemps” Our animal and pet unit continues. This week’s goal will be write a rough copy based on our funny/weird animal drawing from last week. We will also have a French author visit Thursday. I look forward to her presentation.

Math - We continue to practice our multiplication daily during our morning routine. We will focus on the 4’s this week. Our focus will be division this week. Health - Our focus this week will be the importance of physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Congratulations to the students who particiapted in STEM FAIR. Kathleen Gallent was chosen to move on to JMH this past Saturday. Way to go!
