Students were tasked with coming up with a team name for their class group's during Friday's art class. Throughout the past few weeks, students have been learning leadership and communication skills, respect, and how to work collaboratively as a team. Bravo les amis!

Welcome back to another week in 4FI Glazier. This week will be filled with fun Halloween activities. Please refer to the list below:

  • Monday - Gretna Green Colours Day

  • Tuesday - Crazy Hair/Hat Day

  • Wednesday - PJ Day

  • Thursday - Black/Orange Day

  • Friday - K-5 - Costume Parade in gym (p.m.) 

Reminder that Wednesday is a Professional Learning Day for teachers. It will be a ½ day for students. Dismissal at 11:15.

French - This week’s activities will be based around Halloween. Our descriptive writing piece will resume next week. Spelling test and comprehension tasks take part on Friday’s.

Math – We will focus on subtracting (regrouping) of 3 and 4 digits this week. Unfinished work will be sent home. Please notify me if you wish to have any additional works sent home to practice. Unit test end of next week.

Social Studies - We will be learning how to read and create a map. Our task this week will be to map our school playground and orient the equipment in their proper place.

Welcome back to another week in 4FI Glazier. Cool weather is upon us. Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for their chilly morning recesses.

Reminders:

  • Picture retakes on Wednesday, October 18th. The form that was sent home is due before Wednesday.

French - Daily work consist of word work, reading, and writing. Students continue to draft a descriptive writing piece on a person of interest. Students are in the process of self-correcting. Next students will correct with a partner before submitting it to myself for correction and final copy. Comprehension tasks take part on Friday’s.

Math – We continue to work on 3 and 4 digit subtraction, and are currently reviewing the 5 multiplication facts. Unfinished work will be sent home. Please notify me if you wish to have any additional works sent home to practice.

Social Studies – We are learning about physical characteristics throughout the various geographic regions of Canada. Students will be choosing a province/territory of their choice Friday in preparation for their in house project.

Welcome back to another week in 4FI Glazier. I trust everyone enjoyed their long weekend and had their fill of turkey.

Reminders:

  • Please check reading bag nightly for notices, information, and homework (due on Friday’s)

  • Read nightly for 10-15 minutes

  • Fire Safety presentation on Thursday from 9-10 a.m.

French - Daily work consist of word work, reading, and writing. Students continue to draft a descriptive writing piece on a person of interest. This week’s focus will be to draft a conclusion. Next week, students will first self-correct their assignments, and then correct with a partner before submitting it to myself for correction and final copy.

Math – This week’s focus will be to correct all classwork from last week and move on to 3 and 4 digit subtraction. Unit test next Friday. We will review the 4 multiplication facts. Unfinished work will be sent home.

Social Studies – We are exploring the provinces and territories of Canada along with capital cities. In the coming weeks, we will be learning about physical characteristics, climatic and vegetative zones, regions, habitats, government, and symbols of Canada. Later, students will conduct a research project of a given province and/or territory. Details to follow in the coming weeks.

Welcome back to another week in 4FI Glazier and our first week of October. It was great to see our students participate in Orange Shirt Day and our Terry Fox walk last Friday.

A reminder that next Monday is Thanksgiving weekend. There will be NO school on the 9th.

French - Daily work consist of word work, reading, and writing. Students continue to draft a descriptive writing piece on a person of interest. Last week student’s wrote and introduction and 1st paragraph describing their chosen person. This week’s focus will be tastes/preferences, and what makes them special. Vocabulary quiz on Friday.

Please note that the expectation as well is to read 10-15 minutes every night as homework. There will be evenings where your child will have the same book for consecutive nights. Doing so enables students to re-read and master the book. Books sent home have been rehearsed in class.

Math - We will be learning strategies to add 3 and 4 digits i.e. read from right to left, placing additions vertically, etc. Next week will be subtraction. Practice sheets will be sent home. We continue to review our 2 and 4 multiplication facts. We are slowly progressing with the 5 family. Expectation is up to 8x8 in Gr.4. Students will also practice writing numbers 20-30. Quiz on Friday. Unfinished work will be sent home.

Social Studies - We will be quickly reviewing the province of New Brunswick (major cities, geographical features, population, flag, urban vs rural areas, water ways, etc.). From there, we will be exploring the provinces and territories of Canada. Later, students will conduct a research project of a given province and/or territory. Details to follow in the coming weeks.
