Welcome back to another week in 4FI Glazier and our first week of October. It was great to see our students participate in Orange Shirt Day and our Terry Fox walk last Friday.

A reminder that next Monday is Thanksgiving weekend. There will be NO school on the 9th.

French - Daily work consist of word work, reading, and writing. Students continue to draft a descriptive writing piece on a person of interest. Last week student’s wrote and introduction and 1st paragraph describing their chosen person. This week’s focus will be tastes/preferences, and what makes them special. Vocabulary quiz on Friday.

Please note that the expectation as well is to read 10-15 minutes every night as homework. There will be evenings where your child will have the same book for consecutive nights. Doing so enables students to re-read and master the book. Books sent home have been rehearsed in class.

Math - We will be learning strategies to add 3 and 4 digits i.e. read from right to left, placing additions vertically, etc. Next week will be subtraction. Practice sheets will be sent home. We continue to review our 2 and 4 multiplication facts. We are slowly progressing with the 5 family. Expectation is up to 8x8 in Gr.4. Students will also practice writing numbers 20-30. Quiz on Friday. Unfinished work will be sent home.

Social Studies - We will be quickly reviewing the province of New Brunswick (major cities, geographical features, population, flag, urban vs rural areas, water ways, etc.). From there, we will be exploring the provinces and territories of Canada. Later, students will conduct a research project of a given province and/or territory. Details to follow in the coming weeks.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at school. I will respond via phone call as promptly as I can. Let’s have a great week! Cheers :)

Welcome back to another week in 4FI Glazier. Saturday was “Becca Told Me So” day. I trust everyone was able to do a good deed over the weekend.

Please note:

- I will be away on Wednesday. Mr. D. Gay will be in to replace me. I will be back in class on Thursday.

- Tuesday will be picture day. Individual and class photos will be taken.

- Wednesday students will practice bus evacuation procedures.

- Friday is our walking school bus. Everyone is encouraged to meet at Northumberland Square mall to walk to school. Staff and students will be leaving the mall at 7:30 a.m.

French - Our routine has been established. Daily work consist of word work, reading, and writing. For the month of September, students will be focused on writing a descriptive writing piece on a person of interest. Throughout, students will learn various traits and build their vocabulary.

The expectation as well is to read 10-15 minutes every night as homework. There will be evenings where your child will have the same book for consecutive nights. Doing so enables students to re-read and master the book. Books sent home have been rehearsed in class.

Math - Students are learning about place value. This week’s focus will be to compare, order, and distinguish numbers (i.e. greater than, less than, etc.) Unfinished work will be sent home. I also encourage students to also review and practice saying and writing their numbers up to one hundred in French.

Likewise, 10 minutes is schedule every class to review multiplication. Last week we reviewed the 2 family. This week we will look at the 4’s. Please practice at home. The expectation for Gr 4 is up to 8x8.

Health - This week will serve as a review of material covered. Students will create a poster indicating 3 positive things i.e. words of encouragement, being thankful, etc.
