Card games are a great way to improve Math skills, co-operation and taking turns.  We learned how to play Go Fish today.  It was a lot of fun! Try playing at home.

Wow! It's the first week of December! Time flies when you're having fun!  December homework calendars go home this week.  There will be no homework the week before Christmas vacation.  Keep practicing your letters/sounds and sight words. Our letters of the week are Uu (Umber Umbrella Bird) and Vv (Vincent Vampire Bat).  Uu is a hardworking vowel that makes two sounds.  Uu is in the words hug, under, up and huge.  Vv is in very, violet, love and five.  Look for these letters at home. Our Christmas concert will take place on Wednesday.  There will be 2 identical shows, one at 10:00 and one at 12:30.  Remember to dress nicely and bring your singing voice! Mrs. Bransfield and the school drama club have been working very hard on putting together a great show. Our school craft sale will be held on Saturday.  There are always lots of beautiful Christmas gifts for sale!

All money raised is going into the Parker Lloyd fund.   Library is Thursday. Show and Tell is on Friday.   We will be practicing our songs for the Christmas Play. The concert will be on Wednesday, December 3rd.   Have a great week!

Our letters of the week are Qq (Queeny Quail)  and Rr (Robbie Rabbit).  Q says /kw/.  Q and U stick together like glue and can be found in the words queen, quick, quilt and quiet.  Rr is in rabbit, rock, race and rice.  Make a list of words at home that have q or r in them.  In writing, we are working on using our word wall to help spell sight words and on stretching our words for sounds.  Try saying the word you want to write slowly and write down the sounds you hear. We have been working on rhyming.  Words that rhyme end the same. Bat and Cat rhyme. So do dog and fog.  What rhyming words can you find? In Math, we are practicing making sets of objects up to 5 and are working on printing our numbers. Report cards go home on Monday.  Parents, please sign and return the envelope. Parent Teacher appointment times will be attached to the report card.  There is no school on Friday due to parent teacher meetings. Library is Thursday.  There is no show and tell this week. The Scholastic Book Fair is at Gretna Green this week.  We will be going as a class on Monday and Tuesday.  Parents, if you are sending money with your child, please put it in a baggie and label it book fair.  Thanks!
