 Mrs. Simmons found herself surrounded by family and friends as she was recognized by our Minister of Education, Jody Carr, with this year's Minster's Excellence In Teaching Award over the weekend. The purpose of the award is to recognize and honour dynamic educators who have displayed outstanding skills in supporting the needs of diverse learners of the 21st century at the school, district and provincial level.  Mrs. Simmons has certainly earned these wonderful accolades and is well deserving of this honor. Congratulations Mrs. Simmons!!!

 Mrs. Simmons' class had a unique learning opportunity today!  They had a video conference with the Honorable Minister of Education, Jody Carr.  Each student had the opportunity to ask one question to the minister regarding his job as minister, our province and other topics.  The students thoroughly enjoyed their session and so did Mr. Carr.  Well done boys and girls!

 We will be holding our annual Scholastic Book Fair during the week of November 19th to the 23rd. Students will be visiting the Book Fair on Monday, November 19th to see all the wonderful and amazing books the Fair has to offer. Times for the Fair are as follows: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday – 9:00 -3:00 p.m. and on Thursday (parent/teacher evening) from 9:00 – 3:00 p.m. and again from 4:00-7:00 p.m. So come on out and check the great selection of books available this year and start your Christmas shopping early.

 Some students at Gretna Green were provided with a unique learning experience today.  Local historian and authority of Miramichi history shared his knowledge in a series of recorded interviews with students Drew S., Drew Mac., Samantha, Isabella and Molly under the guidance of Mrs. Charlotte Loggie.  This project proved to be a great learning experience for everyone involved.  Stay tuned for the official viewing of these great vignettes of Douglastown history!

 The monthly Go Go Getter student of the month award along with the Dynamo Dragon Class award were handed out on Friday.  This month's student awards were given to Nicolas Gallant and Ryelee Harding while the class awards were given to Mme Dickson and Mrs. Girouard's class. There are many fine students at Gretna Green and it is always nice to have a few of them recognized for their efforts!
