Read 20 minutes

French Booklet- For today I would like students to work on page 40 of their booklet and use page 41 to check their work.  They can then do the same with pages 42 and 43. Lastly, they can do the crossword on page 44.

 For Thursday students will be asked to follow my model and do a writing piece about sports and activities they enjoy doing.  To prepare for their writing piece they can write down hobbies and sports they enjoy doing, when they like to do these sports and hobbies and with who the like to do them.  They can also add in how often they do each or any other extra details they see fit.  I am attaching my idea chart that they can use as a model.

A STEM activity is an activity that contains elements of science, technology, engineering, or math, and sometimes two or more of those disciplines. When we do STEM activities, we like to include three of the letters if possible. In a STEM activity, children are learning how to use several types of knowledge together to solve a specific problem. Since we are missing our on our vendredi extrodianaire I though today your child could do some of these STEM activities that we normally incorporate into our classroom on Fridays. Please take a look at the STEM bingo document below. Your child can do one or many of the activities below. Please post some pictures to our Facebook group of what you created.

Monday January 17
Read for 20 minutes
French Booklet- Students can work on page 34 in their booklet, it is straight forward. Make sure they read the entire page before starting, they have all the vocabulary they need. Once they have completed the page, they can check their answers on page 35. Next, they can work on page 36 and use the vocabulary at the bottom of the page to complete the sentences showing how often an activity is done. Again, once they finish that page, they can check their answers on page 37. Finally, I would like students to attempt page 38, here their will be recreating the sentences from the previous page, it’s a great way for them to try to piece together the sentences on their own. Once they have completed page 38 it is really good practice for them to read the sentences aloud to someone at home.

January 14th
Read 20 minutes in English
French booklet- In students booklet I would like them to look over page 26, 28, 30 and 31. Students can then answer the questions on page 32 and to write 5 sentences on the back of page 32 talking about what activities they enjoy doing and how often they like doing them. If they want to try, they can also write who they enjoy doing them with or when, like they saw on page 23. An example of a good sentence would be;
1. J’aime écouter tous les jours la musique avec ma famille.
2. J’aime dessiner souvent avec London.
I hope everyone is making out ok and if you have any questions, I am available all day! Please take advantage of Megan Burke to do video calls she can review the pages with students, and she can also have conversations with the students. She has already been in contact with a few of the students in our class. If you are interested please let me know and I will set something up for your child.

January 13th
Read 20 minutes in English
French booklet- In students booklet I would like them to look over page 20, it is a good review of how to write a sentence using “I can’t” or “ I don’t want”. After reviewing this they can go on and re-write the sentences on page 21 using the “ne” and “pas”, again the answer key is on page 22. I would then like them to look over page 23. This page talks about the “where” and “with whom” regarding hobbies so students can get and share more information about activities and hobbies. Lastly, I would like students to attempt the two reading comprehensions on page 24, answer key is on page 25. We will look over these together on Friday during our meeting and we will take turns reading them aloud. See you all in our teams meeting Friday morning at 9 am.

Tomorrow January 11th
A. Read to self in English for a minimum of 20 minutes.
B. French Work Book- Students can read over page 1 in their French work booklet and highlight the activities\hobbies they enjoy doing and familiarize themselves with the French vocabulary. Next, they can go to page 9 and 10 and complete these activities to help them practice their new vocabulary. Finally, I would like them to try page 12, the instructions at the top of the page in English. Page 12 is asking them to write a sentence stating what hobbies they like better. There is an example sentence at the top of the page. Once they have completed the sentence it is a good idea for them to read their sentences out loud. We will go over their sentences during our team meeting on Wednesday at 9 am.

Happy New Year everyone! Please note that an email and talk mail was sent home yesterday from the school. I am sending home learning packets for this round of home learning. These packets can be picked up at the school on today between 1-3 pm. Yes each student requires a packet to complete. There will also be a note attached with further instructions regarding the packet and teams meetings for those who are able to connect. If you can not connect please do not worry. We will be using these meetings to do some extra conversations or to read a book.
Please don’t forget to pick up your child’s learning packet on monday! Have a great day:)

Good morning, today we will be having our team meeting at 10 am. We will do our morning routine questions, word wall sentences and we will read "Chacun son chapeau" together. I have not assigned any new books on Boukili as we will be working through "Chacun son chapeau" together. Students can continue working on Duo-Lingo and Boom Learning. I am going to assign new cards on Boom Learning this morning if your child has already completed the other assignments. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning. We will not be having our class meeting today, but I do want your child to go in to our class materials folder on Teams and read our word wall sentences as well as answer our morning questions in writing so I can see them tomorrow. I have also posted a book for your child to read that you can find in class materials in the folder titled "Books" it is called "Chacun son chapeau" . I have posted two copies in the folder, one for your child to read and also a recording of myself reading the book. Your child can listen to the recording in full the first time around and the second time around I ask that they pause at the end of each page and read it aloud after me . Once they have listened to the book and then listen a second time and repeated they can go back and attempt to read it on their own. Tell them we will discuss the book tomorrow morning in our morning meeting at 10 am. If they have time they can go in and work on their duo-lingo assignments. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning, I hope everyone had a restful weekend. I have assigned a new book in Boukili called "Saucisson se Costume". This book is a higher level book, I only ask that your child listen to the book twice this morning. If they have any questions about the book we can talk about it in our morning meeting. Your child can also continue working on their Boom Learning cards "Les Vêtements" this week. I will be showing your child today how to get into our morning routine questions and our word wall on Teams today during our meeting. We will also attempt an oral lesson. Your child should be able to see our meeting start time in their Teams calendar. have a great day and let me know if you have any questions.
