This is a short week for students so there will be no homework!!! Yay!   We are going to review the letters a, b, c, d, e, f and g this week.  In Math, we are still working on patterns.  Remember in order for it to be a pattern, it has to repeat!   This is Fire Safety Week. We will be learning how to stay safe in case of a fire.  We are also going to have a visit from some firefighters! Be sure to tell your parents some of the safety rules you learn.   The school fundraiser starts this week.  We are also collecting "pennies for polio".   Enjoy your extra long weekend and have a fabulous Thanksgiving with your families!

For Show and Tell today, Ophelia brought in her rock/sea glass collection.  She finds them at the beach by her cottage.  She had green, blue and white pieces of sea glass.  Very cool.  Zackary brought in some pictures of the Chatham Ironmen and their championship trophy.  There was a picture of Zackary, his brothers Nathan and Jordan, and Jon Saunders of the Ironmen with the trophy.  Awesome!  Cole brought in his Woody toy from the movie Toy Story.  Everyone talked about how much they like that movie. Cole said his mother bought it for him.  Good job everyone!

This week we will be working on the letters Ff and Gg.  Tell your parents the sounds for francy fish and gordo gorilla. Funny, Friday, first and fish start with the letter f. Gorilla, grape and great all start with g. What words do you know that begin or end with these letters? What would your name be if it started with one of these letters? I'd be Giss Gatheson or Fiss Fatheson!! That would be silly!!!     We are still working on building stamina for Read to Self.  Remember the rules: stay in 1 spot, keep your eyes on the book, read the whole time, read in a quiet voice, no talking and work on your stamina! I'll be working with small groups this week while you practice.   Homework starts this week.  Parents, have your child choose 3 activities to complete for the week.  There are also sight words to practice and books to read.  You can keep the books for the week and send everything back on Friday.  Please practice tracing the alphabet in your zoophonics books.  Say the letter name and the sound it makes.
