Happy St. Patrick's Day! Were any of you lucky enough to catch a leprechaun? They are sneaky!   This week, we will continue to practice our punctuation poems and hopefully record them.  Look around and see how many periods, question marks, exclamation marks and commas you can find. They are everywhere!    Keep working on your sight words and letter sounds.  Practice sounding out words whenever you can. Our new words this week are: they, with.   In Math, we will be finishing up our unit on shape and space and starting to work on numbers 6 to 10.   We have finished with the Five Senses and will now be working on healthy environments.  We are starting with the 3 R's: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!   We are going to try and have another Skype this week.   Have a super week in Kindergarten!

We had our first Skype session with our new friends in Raleigh, North Carolina today.  It was really fun! We sang O'Canada and they sang the Star Spangled Banner.  We introduced ourselves and shared what we like about school.  It seems as though we have a lot in common!

We haven't started learning about the 3 R's yet (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) so your child will not be able to answer that homework question until next week. Sorry!

Welcome back! I enjoyed hearing all your fabulous stories yesterday. It sounds like everyone had a wonderful March Break!   We are going snowshoeing this afternoon! We will be walking through Storyland Park. I'm sure we will have lots of fun!   On Wednesday, we will be Skyping with our friends in North Carolina! Yipee!   We are reviewing our sight words and letter sounds this week.  We will be practicing using our sounds to figure out new words.   Everyone is doing so well with their reading! I am very proud of you all. Keep reading at home!   In Math, we are working on capacity and mass.  Compare different sizes of containers at home to see which hold more! How can you figure out how heavy objects are?   Have a super week in Kindergarten!

I hope you are ready for another funfilled week in Kindergarten!   On Tuesday, we will be participating in 100th day activities with the other K-2 classes.  I was really impressed with the 100th Day projects that you did.  Very creative! Great job, boys and girls!   On Wednesday, we will be connecting with some new penpals in Raleigh, North Carolina!  We will hear them sing the American National Anthem and we will sing O Canada.   We will each get a chance to introduce ourselves and share some of the things we like to do.  How exciting!! The power of technology :)   Thursday is Library day. Don't forget your books!   Friday is  spell-a-thon test day.  Keep practicing your words!  We will review the spell-a-thon words this week as well as last week's words: come, this and that.   Mr. Stewart will be hosting a Bucket Filler Assembly on Friday.  There are lots of bucket fillers in our class! Keep it up :)   The Home and School is sponsoring a "Family Winterlude" on Sunday, February 24th from 1:00 - 3:00.  There will be hot chocolate, hot dogs, snow shoeing, skiing and skating!
