There is a lot happening this week at Gretna Green!   The Scholastic Book Fair will be running Monday to Thursday.  Our class will be going on Monday and again on Wednesday.  The fair will be open Thursday evening for family night.  Come and take a peek! There are always lots of great books available!   The end of month assembly will be on Thursday.  I wonder who will be Student and Class of the Month!  We will be submitting our votes this week!   There is no school on Friday so homework is due back on Thursday.   Report cards will be sent home on Thursday.  If you want an appointment time for parent teacher, please send back the green form as soon as possible.   Keep reading!!!   We are going to record our punctuation poems this week.   In Math, we will be starting a new unit on numbers 6 to 10.   We will be participating in many fun Easter centers and activities this week!   We are going to practice a new song to teach our North Carolina friends when we Skype with them again next week.   Have a great week!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Were any of you lucky enough to catch a leprechaun? They are sneaky!   This week, we will continue to practice our punctuation poems and hopefully record them.  Look around and see how many periods, question marks, exclamation marks and commas you can find. They are everywhere!    Keep working on your sight words and letter sounds.  Practice sounding out words whenever you can. Our new words this week are: they, with.   In Math, we will be finishing up our unit on shape and space and starting to work on numbers 6 to 10.   We have finished with the Five Senses and will now be working on healthy environments.  We are starting with the 3 R's: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!   We are going to try and have another Skype this week.   Have a super week in Kindergarten!

We had our first Skype session with our new friends in Raleigh, North Carolina today.  It was really fun! We sang O'Canada and they sang the Star Spangled Banner.  We introduced ourselves and shared what we like about school.  It seems as though we have a lot in common!

We haven't started learning about the 3 R's yet (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) so your child will not be able to answer that homework question until next week. Sorry!

Welcome back! I enjoyed hearing all your fabulous stories yesterday. It sounds like everyone had a wonderful March Break!   We are going snowshoeing this afternoon! We will be walking through Storyland Park. I'm sure we will have lots of fun!   On Wednesday, we will be Skyping with our friends in North Carolina! Yipee!   We are reviewing our sight words and letter sounds this week.  We will be practicing using our sounds to figure out new words.   Everyone is doing so well with their reading! I am very proud of you all. Keep reading at home!   In Math, we are working on capacity and mass.  Compare different sizes of containers at home to see which hold more! How can you figure out how heavy objects are?   Have a super week in Kindergarten!
