The grade 4/5 boys' baketball team will be playing their first "away" game of the season vs. Croft Elementary on Monday, December 7th. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 and finish at 4:30. All team members are reminded to make their own arrangements for transportation to and from the game. Good luck boys!

Our very own A.J., Bailey and Zachary took part in a memorable project today at the media studio located at James M. Hill. They had the unique opportunity to interview local WWII veteran, Mr. John Forbes. This video was created for its eventual submission into a national contest called, The National Video A Veteran Contest, sponsored by Friends of Veterans Canada.
On Thursday, November 26th Gretna Green students had a Mock Olympic Torch Relay to help celebrate the real Olympic Torch coming to Miramichi. Classes made their own Olympic Torches the week prior to this event. Inspiring music was played through the school intercom while classes lined the hallways and ran their torches throughout the school. All classes then proceeded to the gym to continue the celebration.

The deadline for Grade 5 students to purchase their sweatshirts has been extended to Friday, November 27. Grade 5 students have the option of purchasing a sweathsirt at the cost $35.00, a zip up hoodie for $40.00 and/or a T-shirt for $15.00. Student names on the sleeve are included in the price. A deposit of $20.00 must accompany the order. Orders can be given to the grade 5 class teachers, Mr. Comeau or Mrs. Gallant.
Our Gretna Green girl's grade 4/5 team will play their first home game of the season on Tuesday, November 24 against Harkins. Game time is 3:30 Good luck girls!
Please note that the second dosage for the H1N1 vaccine has been cancelled for children ages 4-9.(See uploaded memo). Some school children with underlying medical conditions could still require the second dose, and parents are invited to call Public Health to make an appointment for this purpose.
This week is our first Mango Mania of the year. Students are encouraged to participate by limiting TV and video/computer games to a maximum of 1 hour or less screen time each day this week! Teachers will be keeping track of students' progress each day. Mango is a community based program of the Regional Health Authority. Their vision is to make our community "the very best" in healthy eating and acting living.
School basketball will begin on Monday, November 16th and run for 8 weeks. The Grade 2/3 program is an intramural school program. The Grade 4/5 program involves games in other schools in our district. Operation Christmas Child is an opportunity to help a child in need at Christmas time. You can, wrap, pack and send a shoebox overseas with Operation Christmas Child. Last year, through Operation Christmas Child, over 1.2 million shoe boxes packed full of gifts and goodies were wrapped, packed and sent to children in disadvantaged situations by children and adults in the UK.
