Parents, if you haven't already done so, please sign and return the bottom part of the interim report cards that were sent home on Friday.   We are working on the letters Kk and Ll this week.  Keep practicing the sounds for a, b, c, d, e,f g, h, i, and j at home and look for something creative to bring in for show and tell on Thursday!   There is no school on Friday for students due to meetings for teachers.   Homework is due back on Thursday.   Book Fair: We will be going to the book fair on Tuesday and Wednesday.

We are now beginning our first unit on Numbers.  In this unit, children explore the numbers 1 to 5.  Children need lots of practice using numbers in situations where they can be successful and have fun.  As they play games and participate in meaningful counting activities, they develop concepts about counting that provide the foundation for future mathematics learning.  Encourage your child to find opportunities to count to 5.   These are the key learning goals for this unit: You can count the things in a set in any order. For example, if you count a red truck, a blue truck, and a green truck, you can start counting with any of the trucks and count them in any order.  The number of trucks is always the same: 3. The things you count do not need to be the same.  For example, you can count a book, a crayon, and a shoe to find out there are 3 things.

We will have Show and Tell on Fridays.  The All About Me bags that you brought in last week were fantastic! I loved seeing and hearing about the things that are special to you.  This week we are learning the letter sounds for /a/ and /b/.  For show and tell, please bring in something that has the /a/ or/b/ sound in it.  For example, you could bring in an apple or a teddy bear!
