Create new patterns.   3. Talk about a pattern rule.  4.  Use 2 attributes to make a pattern.    Patterns are EVERYWHERE!  Look around your home and see what patterns you can find.

I hope you all had a fantastic summer.  You are going to have a great year in Grade Two.  Mr. Cabel and I are looking forward to seeing you all on Tuesday.  Enjoy your long weekend!
All the grade 2's went on a field trip to the Woodmen's Museum.  There's a lot of cool stuff there, even dead animals!  There were skinned bobcats and a bear that we got to touch!  We got to feed the fish.  One slapped Matthew B's hand!  We went in the Boat House and saw a boat that was named Doug Out.  There was also an airplane.  It crashed near the museum many years ago.  They put it back together but it took 3 years to finish! Wow!  Our tour guide was named Mr. D and he covered a lot of good stuff.  We had a great day!                                                                           by Jenna and Matthew R P.S.  Our legs were tired :)

Dear Kaity, How are you?  We miss you.  Ben is really excited to see you this summer!!  While you’ve been gone, we’ve learned a lot.  We worked on 3D shapes and now we are learning about graphs.  We made a graph about our favourite animals.  We had to choose between an ape, snake and rabbit.  Which is your favourite?  So far rabbits are winning.  Apes are the least favourite.  Only Grace and Miss Matheson chose apes!   Right now, we are working on animal projects.  We are learning about the life cycle of different animals.  Ben made a really cool salamander out of clay!  His name is Aqua.  Drew, Amanda and Brooke are finding out all kinds of neat facts about jellyfish. Did you know that jellyfish never stop growing?  Or that jellyfish have no head but they have a mouth!   Did you know that you could keep a grown up python as a pet?    Matthew R and Isabella went to the SMART Technologies showcase at the Rodd last week with Miss Matheson.  They played the SMART Table for 2 hours!  It was awesome!  They even made the front page of the newspaper! Everyone has something they would like to share with you: Sarah – Do you know where Mount Carleton is?  We are going there for summer vacation. Jadyn – What is it like in BC? Drew – We have so much facts on jellyfish that it took two posters! Matthew R – I’m playing baseball for the fourth year! Matthew B – I am playing baseball this year, too.  I miss you. Chandler – All's well that ends well! Grace – I miss you, Kaity!  When are you going to come back? Courtney – I really miss you. Dylan – I really, really miss you! Ethan – This year on summer break me, Hannah, Kate and my parents are going to Niagra Falls.  It is going to be a lot of fun! Jenna – Did you know Becca, Courtney and I are learning about pythons?  They are big snakes!  I might be going camping this weekend. Isabella – Are you going anywhere for summer vacation?  I am going to Florida, again! Brooke – What are your classmates and your teacher’s name? Amanda – I am playing soccer this year! Ben – I have some stuff to send to you.  I miss you! Patrick – I really, really, really, really miss you.  I might be  going to Niagra Falls this summer! Becca – I’m working on pythons.  We have so much facts on pythons that we’re on our third poster! Miss Matheson – I can’t believe that the school year is almost over.  We miss having you in our class.  Hope you are enjoying living in BC. We'll put some new pictures up soon so keep checking our image gallery!  Take care, Kaity!                                                                          - Your Friends in 2M

We finished our first movie using the green screen!  The GG Morning Show was made for our penpals in Dallas to teach them about weather in New Brunswick.  It was a lot of hard work and a lot of fun.  We researched weather information, wrote a script, had auditions and spent a day in the media room working hard.  Thanks to Mrs. Simmons for helping us record and edit our movie.  Check out our feature film in the video section.    There is a new image gallery showing our green screen fun, the SMART Showcase and other neat things!

Grade 2M has finished a project called "Tomatosphere".  How it works is, we received a T package and a B package of seeds.  One was on the International Space Station and one stayed on Earth.  We planted the seeds to see what we would discover about them.  It was fun!  Facts: Total Planted: B - 22, T - 24.  Total Grew: B- 14, T -17.  B - seeds from the International Space Station T - Control Group.  T's grew the tallest.  B's grew the shortest.                                                    BY Isabella and Brooke
