Our video conference with Dallas was a success!  We watched our pen pals present a wonderful project about weather in Texas.  They taught us about water spouts, dust devils and tornadoes!  They even showed us what they do for tornado drills at school.  We had a lot of questions and our pals knew all the answers.  We taught them a new French song we have been working on called Bonjour Monsieur.  It was fun showing them the actions.  They did a great job singing along with us.  Our pals study Spanish not French so we took turns sharing some words we know in both languages.  We had a lot of fun!

2M is participating in the Tomatosphere project with the Canadian Space Agency.  We planted our seeds on Thrusday.   There were two packages of Heinz tomato seeds. One package of seeds is the control group. The second set of seeds has been exposed to a flight from Earth to the International Space Station, storage at the ISS, and a return flight on a USA shuttle. The seeds were taken to the ISS by CSA astronaut, Julie Payette, and the seeds remained on board for approximately two months.  Wow!  We planted both packages and are keeping track of which seeds grow first.  We won't know which package has been in space until the end of the project!  Check back to find out our results! http://www.tomatosphere.org/

Spring is on it's way and we are very excited because our tulips have emerged!  Along with other students across the Northern Hemisphere we are tracking the growth of tulips as the seasons change from winter to spring.  Our friends in Dallas have told us that their tulips are already in bloom.  Check out the Journey North Website to see what's happening in other test gardens. http://www.learner.org/jnorth/tulip/
