The students will be participating in a cool webcast next week!  During this live webcast the class will see live footage of polar bears and have the chance to get their questions answered by an amazing panel of experts regarding environmental issues facing polar bears.  These experts include: Dr. Steven Amstrup, Senior Scientist, Polar Bears InternationalJill Marvin, General Curator, Quebec du Aquarium, Canadian Association of Zoos and AquariumsMarie Auger-Meth, University of AlbertaDr. Ian Stirling, University of Alberta, Adjunct Professor

I would like to remind all parents that I will not be in class for the duration of the week. Ms. Kara Cooper will be my replacment during this time.  If you need to make contact with the school please call the school directly rather than emailing me.  I will be returning to class on November 8th.

Homework for the week will include reading your sound sheets that were handed out during class.  Two sounds will be studied this week.  Please share your "mini livre" by reading it to a family member.  Work on your multiplication facts up to three.  Review your numbers in French 0-60. Please finish at home Math homework not completed in class.Your log entry for this week will be the following:  Please summarize your favorite part of the novel, "The Twits" written by Roal Dahl.  Pick your favorite part that we have read thus far.  This entry is due on Friday.

We are in for a spooktacular week.  We will have some neat Halloween activities planned by our student council throughout the week.  Reminder to parents of our parent-teacher meetings on Monday and Tuesday evening.  We also have no school on Wednesday due to curriculum meetings being held for teachers.  We will have to put our green screen project on hold until the construction work is done in our multimedia lab.  We are now ready to do our final copies of our Donkey stories and in French we will be continuing to work on our podcasts and writing some new stories.

 Parents are reminded of our parent-teacher interviews on Monday, October 25th and Tuesday, October 26th.  Times of scheduled appointments will be from 3:00-4:00 and 6:00-7:30 respectively.  For those who returned your appointment slips on Friday a scheduled date and time was sent home with your child on Friday.

 This week's Friday Showcase was presented by Amber and Katelyn.  Their presenation was on ducks.  They displayed some real duck decoys and talked about different duck calls and the different types of ducks.  Bravo girls, great job ... quack, quack!

 We had a special visitor from Kouchibouguac National Park today.  He shared with us what our role in protecting our habitats for both plants and animals.  A highlight for the team was touching a real life wolf pelt.  Good times!

The class had a special visitor today from children's author, Coach Pat.  He entertained the students with some original songs and books.  He touched on the subject of bullying in one of his original stories and the students really enjoyed his visit.  Thanks Coach Pat!
