Justin and Bailey did a fantastic job on today's Friday Showcase presentation.  They presented a lot of great information on motor cross and atvs. Thanks again to their dads Ross and Scott who brought in their ATVs and motor bikes for all of us to see.  Super job Urquhart and Black families!!!

Hello everyone I hope you all enjoyed your sunny weekend.  Let's hope it was a taste of what summer will offer.  We will be sharing our donkey stories and plays created in Health to other classes throughout the week.  Thursday will be our school wide Enrichment day.  You should be in for a fun day!  For those of you involved in the Capital Encounters video project we will be launching our video at 11:40 on Thursday.  The next time I post a Monday message it will be the last one of the year, incredible!

The entire team is reminded of our field trip on Friday to the Miramichi Fish Hatchery and Somers' Bridge to release our salmon.  It should be a great day.  Please wear comfortable foot wear, pack a lunch, snack and drinks for the trip ... and don't forget to pack a smile.

We are in for another exciting week!  We finally get to release our salmon on Friday and take a tour of the Miramichi fish hatchery.  Permission slips for this trip will be going home this week.  On Monday representatives from Harkins Middle will be here to answer any questions you may have regarding Middle School.  Our Math assessments will end on Monday ... you can now breathe - the pressure is gone.  We are going to get crackn' on a pretty cool Science project this week.  I think you will all find it very interesting.  In Health this week we will begin our script writing sessions for skits dealing with peer pressure and other positive messages.  We will also finish our "Mr. Comeau donkey" this week and share them with our reading buddies on Thursday.  There is a Friday Showcase presentation this but I cannot remember who is presenting.  There will be a Capital Encounters meeting on Wednesday for those of you involved with this project.

Kaylee and Lauren did a fantastic job on today's Friday Showcase.  They presented information on our Moncton Zoo adopted animal the squirrel monkey.  We all learned a little more on the squirrel monkey and most students had a chance to participate in their interactive SMART lesson.  Bravo girls!

A.J. had the opportunity to sit down and chat with premier of New Brunswick, Shawn Graham, last evening during the launching of Miramichi as a SMART Showcase Community at the Rodd Inn. Other team members that joined A.J. were Zachary, Bailey and Erin from 5 Gallant. They all had a great time and did a super job in creating a GG Times video for this gala and representing our school.  Well done team!

On the first day of school I told you, "Hang on for the ride because June will soon be here", well it has arrived.  Happy birthday to Zachary who will be celebrating his special day on June 3rd.  Math assessments begin this week so we really have to put our "game face and give a 110%" ... sound familiar?  To make sure everyone is rested and focused for our assessments, there will be No Homework this week.  I have uploaded some Math assessment practice questions that will help you.  They can be found under the documents tab.  I have a lot of interactive and project based learning activities planned for you during the month of June so things should be fun!

Congratulations to our very own, Kelsey Paul, who will be receiving the Rotary Turnaround Award at a ceremonial gala this evening at the Miramichi Rodd Inn.  We are all so proud of you Kelsey and we hope you enjoy your evening along with your family and friends.  Bravo!

The team just finished off their first full fledged green screen productions. We explored the genre of script writing in Language Arts and gave our written scripts some "life" via the use of green screen technology. The only criteria needed was that each story had to be a "good news" story.  The team did a great job with their writing assignment and did a fabulous job uploading their ideas to the "big screen".   Check out our good news broadcasts under the videos tab on this page, enjoy!

REMINDER:  Don't forget, tomorrow is our filming day for the green screen.  Please bring any necessary props or clothing that is needed for your new broadcast.

I hope you all enjoyed your "summer like" Victoria Day weekend. Well, we are in for a four day week and moving into the final stretch of our academic year.  This week should be lots of fun as we take our News Broadcasts into the world of virtual reality and green screen technology!  I know you all put a lot of work into your scripts and things should look great on the big screen.  We will be finishing off our unit on shape and space this week.  Our Math assessment will soon be here, so it is especially important that you play an active role during our senteos sessions over the next two weeks.  Thanks again to Rachel's mom who supplied our milk and cookies treat following our personal development session on Friday ... the cookies were mighty tastey!  On a final note, I will be away on Thursday and Friday so make sure we work as a team on those two days and be good little critters.

The team did a great job with our recent podcasts.  These podcasts were created following a differentiated activity in Language Arts.  The students wrote up a sales pitch after reading and viewing sales pitch content and evaluating their primary components and quality.  Podcasts were then created based on their written sales pitches.  The overall quality is quite good!  Check them out in our audio tab on this page.
