MONDAY MESSAGE – FEBRUARY 1st – 5th    Welcome to February!  This week will mark our first official week of the Non- Intensive French portion of our year.  You will notice that as the week progresses you will be introduced to new subjects.  English language arts, Science, Social Studies and Health will now become part of our weekly schedule.  French instruction is not over.  It will now be offered for two 1 hour blocks on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Art, physical education and library periods will remain the same.   Skating on Tuesday. Don't forget your skates and helmet!!! We will have a Math test on Thursday dealing with Fractions and decimals.  Our scheduled Math quiz for last Friday will now be on Monday, February 1st.  Our personal journals that were due last Friday will now be due tomorrow, February 1st.     Christopher will start off “Friday Show Case” with a presentation on Friday dealing with basketball.  Good luck Christopher.  Stay tuned for this week’s podcast Math problem of the week, ready Dylan?  I would also like to wish good luck to the boys and girls who are participating in Thursday’s basketball jamboree at Dr. Losier!

The Comeau team celebrated Family Day in fine "fashion" today.  Many of our students arrived at school all decked in some of their favorite novel characters.  The costumes were well thought out and good for a laugh to say the least. We finished off our celebration with a sing along session with our reading buddies from Ms. Sheasgreen's class.  A video has been produced highlighting this special moment with our reading buddies.  Kudos go out to our very own Lexy who performed her first solo for the Comeau team.  Awesome job! Hang on Comeau team we are in for a busy week!  This week will be our final week for the Intensive French Program.  Wow, I can't believe I just typed that sentence. Is the year really going by that fast?  We will be continuing our study of decimals and their relationship with Fractions this week.  Mental Math strategies will continue to be studied as well.  I would also like to mention how impressed I am with the progress you have shown with your mental Math strategies, bravo Comeau team! Our focus in French this week will be the completion of our Olympic writing assignment and putting on the finishing touches of our unit on Sports.Wednesday will be Family Literacy Day - "Come in Character Day".  I encourage all of you to dress up as your favorite character from one of your favorite books.  On Thursday the school will be hosting its annual "PJ Literacy Party" in the gym from 6:30-7:30, you are all invited!  See our school website for more details. This week's Math problem of the week will be in the form of a podcast ... are you ready Dylan?
