The students have started a project on the Middle Ages.  This project consists of three basic components.  Phase one is the research component.  The students have already researched  information online pertaining to their specific area of study.  All this information will be collected during phase one.  In phase two the students will then examine the information collected and organize the information needed for their presentation.  In phase three the students will then create the presentation format of their project.  They may organize their information as a power point or SMART slide show, bristol board, video format, dramatization, musical, or any other format suggested by the student and accepted by Mr. Comeau.  Websites posted on this page have proven to be very helpful to the students for their respective projects.  Projects will be due on April 8th.

We are in for a scientific week!  Tuesday, March 16th will be our school based Science Fair and parents are invited to our class from 1:30 - 2:00 to check out our neat projects.  Monday will be our final day for working on our projects.  I am pleased with the quality of work that has been put into these projects thus far, bravo Comeau Team! In Math this week we will be having a test dealing with graphing on Wednesday, March 17th.  Let's hope the luck of the Irish is with us!  Following our unit on graphing we will be exploring probability.  Chess will now be part of our Math program.  Every Friday you will be given a 30 minute block to play chess with a classmate.  There is a lot research out there that supports the use of Chess to improve overall cognitive ability.  Check out this link, http://math.about.com/od/reference/a/chess.htm In English Language Arts we will be having a test on Friday based on our nifty thrifty words and word work done in class.  These words will be posted on our homework page as well as the documents section of our class page.  We will also be extending last week's journal entry into a neat piece of writing ... stay tuned.   In Social Studies I will be giving you an overview of a project we will be working on over the next three weeks dealing with the Middle Ages.  This overview will be presented to you all on Monday.    Brain Gym will also become a part of our daily routine three days a week.  We will be doing 5 minutes of exercise to start our day Tuesday through Thursday.  These exercise routines will be student lead, although I will be your leader this week.  It should be fun.  Check out this link that supports such an initiative, http://primary-school-curriculum.suite101.com/article.cfm/exercise_in_th...   Oh yes one other thing, Haylie will be our Friday Showcase presenter this week.  Hilary did a great job on her presentation dealing with swimming last Friday.  Bravo Hilary!
