Happy Monday boys and girls! This week we will be working on the letters Dd and Ee.  Show your parents the zoophonics sound and signal for deedee deer and ellie elephant.  The /d/ sound can be found at the beginning of the words down, deep, dice and David!  E is a hard working vowel and makes 2 sounds.  It can be found in words like eagle, elephant, egg and Ellie.    In writer's workshop we will keep praticing sketching our stories and start labelling our pictures.  We are going to start working on sight words this week! We are going to learn the words "I" and "like". We'll make sentences with these words and use them in our writing! I like dogs. What do you like?   In Math, we are going to work on making simple patterns. We'll start with some action ones!   We go to the Library on Thursday. Remember to bring your book back so you can get a new one!   We're going to have another exciting week in KM! Yipee!

Show and Tell was great today!  Everyone did a super job talking about their things and the class asked really great questions.  Caleb brought a cool toy that helped him learn how to tie, use velcro, button and zip. His Nanny bought it for him.  Lexi brought a mask that she had when she was in the hospital getting her tonsils out. She said it smelled like strawberries!  Kaden brought pictures of his Labradoodle.  He said he's really soft and likes to play fetch.  He's a super cute puppy! Sidney brought in his very own Timberwolve!  Kent stays with Sidney's family during the hockey season.  They play video games together.  I can't wait to see what the next group brings!

This week we will be working on the letters Bb and Cc.  We find the letter b in words like bubble, bear, birthday and baboon.  C is the beginning letter in cake, cat, cookie and cow.  Show your parents the zoophonics signal and make the sound for Bubba Bear and Catina Cat.  What happens to your lips when you make the b sound? Practice printing these letters at home.   Last week we practiced for a fire drill at school. Tell your parents some of the important things to remember when we have fire drills at school.   Wednesday is school picture day.  Remember to bring your best smile!   There will be a show and tell schedule sent home this week.  Show and Tell will be on Friday. I was very impressed with everybody's show and tell last week. Great choices!   Library is on Thursday. Remember to bring your book back so you can get a new one!   The spare change drive for Terry Fox begins this week.  For  every $1.00 you bring in, you earn a ticket for a chance to be Principal or Vice Principal for a day!   We are going to start learning about patterns this week in Math. Look around, they are everywhere!

We are off to a great start in Kindergarten!! We have been having a lot of fun getting to know each other and making new friends.  The boys and girls in KM are awesome!!!  I will post some pictures of our first few days when all the Permission to Photograph forms have been returned.   We will be busy this week learning rules and routines for school just like David in the book "David Goes to School".  Ask your child to tell you something that they can do at school.  In Kindergarten we will be kind to each other, keep our hands to ourselves, wait our turn and raise our hands. Most of all we will have fun!   This week, we will be working on our names.  I have a lot of fun activities for us to try.  We are also going to start working on our letters with the Zoophonics program. This week, we will be talking about the letter Aa.  Have your child show you the signal that allie alligator makes and see if they can tell you the two sounds hardworking /a/ makes. Practice printing the letter Aa at home.   Meet the Teacher cake night will take place on Thursday at 6:00 pm.  Hope to see you there!   If you haven't already paid the $50 school supply fee, please do so.  The supplies have already been purchased. Thank you!   Please make sure you send a complete change of clothes for your child in a labelled bag.   I am enjoying getting to know all the boys and girls in KM and am looking forward to a fabulous year!
