It's the last week of May! Wow! This will be your last week of homework in Kindergarten!!! Permission slips for our end of year field trip were sent home today. Please sign and return them as soon as possible.  We had a lot of fun at Beaubears Island last year and I expect this year to be great as well.  In Math, we are using ten frames.  Show your parents how to play The Last Counter! On Wednesday, we will be watching the drama club dress rehearsal for their play.  They will be putting it on for the public on Thursday evening. Library is Thursday - bring your books back!

Welcome back! I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend!    This week, we are learning about magic "e".  He changes the vowel sound in words.   He can turn tap into tape and fin into fine!  Try some examples at home. In Math, we are finishing up number 10 and will work with ten frames.   We have been writing letters in class.  Practice writing a letter to a friend at home. Library is Thursday. Show and Tell on Friday is for everyone. Jump Rope for Heart envelopes went home today.  Please return the envelopes whether you decide to raise money or not. Have a great week!

Happy belated Mother's Day!                 We are working on the numbers 9 and 10 this week.  How many ways can you make 9? How about 10? On Tuesday, we are going to see the Calgary Fiddler's perform at Gretna Green.  Wonder Wednesday is about natural versus constructed materials.  Look outside.  What things do you see that were man made?  Library is Thursday.  On Friday, we will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart in the gym.

Welcome back!  We are in the final stretch of Kindergarten! Wow! Congratulations to Cole Shea who was selected as K-2 Student of the Month for April! A very well deserved award for a fabulous boy!  Congratulations to Tyler and Lexi who won prizes for the school spell-a-thon! The Grade 5's are having a yard sale on Thursday to raise money for their end of year field trip.  Everything is $1.00 or less!         Thursday is Library.  Don't forget your books!   We are working on the numbers 8 and 9 this week.   How many ways can you make 8?  How many ways can you make the number 9?  There are no new sight words for May.  Please review and practice the ones you have!  Keep reading! Have a great week!

 This is a short 3 day week in Kindergarten!  You have no school on Thursday and Friday!!There is no homework this week.                 We had a Mystery Skype this morning with some teachers in Indiana.  We had to guess a Robert Munsch book.  We made clues for 50 Below Zero and their book was Smelly Socks!  It was a lot of fun!         We are working on ways to make the number 7 this week.  Try making sets at home to show 7 (4 and 3, 6 and 1).  How many ways can you do it? We have an assembly on Wednesday morning to see who won the prizes for the Spell-a-thon!      Have a great short week!

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday with their families!  We will be going on a trip to the hospital on Wednesday morning. The bus will be leaving at 9. Make sure you have a good breakfast before school!  Pledge money for the spell-a-thon is due Friday. Everyone will be doing the spelling test on Wednesday. Remember to practice your words!  We are working on double vowels. What happens when 2 vowels go walking?

It's a short but busy week in Kindergarten!  There is no school on Thursday due to Teacher PD and Friday for Good Friday.    This is a good week to take the opportunity to play some of the online games that have been assigned over the year.  The links can be found in web links.  Keep reading and practice writing! The Home and School Spell-a-thon begins this week.  Information will be sent home tomorrow. We are going to finish our Easter stories with our Grade 3 Buddies and hopefully share a few on the morning announcements.  We are aslo going to record our jokes later in the week. We will finish our recycling projects and share them with the other classes.  Bring some extra socks!!!  The puddles are getting bigger! Have a great week!

This week in Kindergarten is going to be a busy one!  We are starting work on some recycling projects with Mrs. O'Toole's class.  On Monday, you will brainstorm some ideas with your group and choose your materials. We are working on our final unit in Math on Numbers 6 - 10.  Did you know that 5 and 1 make 6? So does 3 and 3.  How many other ways can you make 6? April Homework calendars will be sent home on Monday. Book orders are due on Tuesday. Our reading buddies are going to help us write some Easter stories this week! Thursday is Library day.   Gretna Green is hosting the ASD-N STEM fair on Thursday. We will get a chance to go check out some cool projects from other schools. The Student Council is selling tickets on a Easter Basket all week. Tickets are .25. Show and Tell is Friday. The playground is really wet. Please make sure you have extra pants and socks at school just in case! Have a great week!

Reminder that there is no school for Kindergarten students on Friday, April 4th as it's Teddy Bear Picnic day for next years students. Library is Thursday. We will start some recycling projects this week. Talk to your parents about the H Brothers (Whit, Sherman, Charlie and Theo).

I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend! This week, we are going to meet the H Brothers and find out what they do to words. Hmmm........ We will finish up our penguin posters and share them with some other classes.  Be ready to talk about what you have learned! In Math, we will finish up our Unit on Geometry and Measurement. We are still working on the 3 R's and will start a project soon! Library is Thursday. Parent Teacher has been rescheduled for this Thursday. Happy last week of Winter :) The Scholastic Book Fair is taking place this week.  We will be going Monday afternoon and again on Tuesday. Report Cards will be sent home on Monday.  Please sign and return the envelope.  Parent Teacher will be Thursday evening and Friday morning.  There is no school on Friday. We are learning about Reducing, Reusing and Recycling.  Talk to your parents about why it's important to use the 3 R's. We will continue our Math centers with Mrs. O'Toole's class this week.   Keep reading!!!

Welcome back! I enjoyed hearing about everyone's March Break adventures.  It sounds like a good week was had by all!   This week we are working on capacity and mass.  Find 2 containers at home and compare how much water they hold.  Use your hands to compare weights of different objects in your home.   New sight words were sent home with March homework calendars.  Continue to review all your words.   Library is Thursday.   Wonder Wednesday is all about the 3 R's: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!   Have a great week!
