This week we are working on the letters m and n.  The m sound makes our mouths tingle!  It can be found in words like mouse, Maggie, Meaghan, Adam, Matheson, me, monster and mom.  Look around. Where else do you see the letter m? When we make the sound for the letter n, our toungue touches the roof of our mouth. It can be found in words like nice, Nigel, night, no, not and Nate.  Practice printing these letters at home.  We will be practicing our alphabet and printing in centers this week.   Our new sight word this week is: IS!!!!!!  We use this word a lot when we talk and write.  Try and use it in a sentence.  For example: It is sunny outside.    Our school Remembrance Day ceremony will be on Friday, November 9th.  Talk to your parents about why it's important to remember.  Adam will be laying the wreathe for our class.   We are working on counting and making sets to 5.  Read your pumpkin counting book to someone at home.  Practice printing these numbers.   Have a super week in Kindergarten!

This week we will be working on the letters i and j.  They look a lot a like! The letter i is a hard worker just like a and e.  That means it makes 2 sounds. It can be found in many words such as: like, it, if, is, igloo, ice cream, Hilary, Olivia and inchworm.  Jellyfish, jam, jump and jet all begin with the letter j.  Look around and see where else you can find these letters.   Our word of the week is "and". Try and use it in a sentence for your parents. For example: I like dogs and cats!  Last week, we worked hard on the word "to".  Sing the to song for your parents!   We are going to put our detective eyes on this week and examine a pumpkin.  I wonder how tall our pumpkin will be and how many seeds it will have?  We are also going to create some cool pumpkin pictures.   This week the student council is having a candy guess jar.  Each guess is 25 cents.   Congratulations to George. He was the top seller in the whole school for the fall fundraiser! George won his very own laptop! Wow!   Have a super week boys and girls!!

This week we will be working on the letters g and h.  Tell your parents the sounds for gordo gorilla and honey horse. Gorilla, grape and great all start with g. Help, honey and home all start with h.  What words do you know that begin or end with these letters? What would your name be if it started with one of these letters? I'd be Giss Gatheson or Hiss Hatheson!! That would be silly!!!   We will be reviewing the sight words we've learned so far: I, like, the, a.  Our new word this week is: to.   We are still working on building stamina for Read to Self.  Remember the rules: stay in 1 spot, keep your eyes on the book, read the whole time, read in a quiet voice, no talking and work on your stamina! I'll be working with small groups this week while you practice.   We are going to finish our math unit on patterns and start working on numbers to 5.   Friday is picture re-take day.  Parents, please let me know if you want your child to have a re-take.
