DRIP! CRASH! BOOM!   Just exactly what are those grade one's doing in Mrs. Moody’s class?   Weather Projects of course...what else! The grade one students had a lot of fun creating plays and posters around their weather topics.  Whether one group was taking cover from a torrential rainstorm or another covering their ears from the loud sounds of a thunderstorm, everyone enjoyed learning about their topic and working as a team.   Each group got to present their weather topics to the class and students were eager to ask questions about the projects. In the end, students participated in their first Senteo lesson about what they had learned from the different groups.  There was a lot of excitement in the classroom and it was amazing to see how much they learned!        Note:  For more photos please look under the "Image Galley" on the home page.

During the week of May 4th to 8th, students worked on the “ice” word family.  One of their activities included creating a song to the tune of Three Blind Mice.  Each group was responsible for making up their own songs by using as many “ice” words as they could.  Students had a lot of fun with this and got to perform them in front of Ms. O’Reilly’s class. Group 1:  Abby S, Octavia, Jake Three blind lice, three blind lice See how they crawl, see how they crawl They jumped onto my brothers hair and then he had to eat a pear Three blind lice, three blind lice.   Group 2:  Chandler, Ben, Meghan, Abbie D. Three nice dice, three nice dice See how they roll, see how they roll They all rolled after the famer’s wife, she sliced their points with a carving knife Three nice dice, three nice dice   Group 3:  Drew, Grace, Brooke B., Colby, Bilal Three blind ice, three blind ice See how they melt, see how they melt They melted all over the farmers wife, so she sliced them up with a carving knife Three blind ice, three blind ice.   Group 4:  Jadyn, Brooke B. Aaron, Ellie, Matthew  Three blind mice, stole a bag of ice That was not so nice, that was not so nice They went to get a bag of rice but instead they got a bag of ice Three blind mice, three blind mice.

On Wednesday May 13th, Mrs. Moody’s class went on a math scavenger hunt in the playground.  We got into pairs and were given two sheets.  The first sheet asked us to look for shapes and the second one asked us to look for attributes of a shape.    Then we got to go to the big kids playground.  We were excited because we never get to go there.  When we were there, we looked for shapes on the playground.  Some of us sat on the swings to write, others used the jungle gym and some used the slide.  We could write anywhere we wanted to.    We switched half way with Miss O’Reilly’s class and moved to the little kids playground.  During our adventures, Colby found a rock that looked like a gym whistle and Chandler found a mystery shape.  He is still not sure what the shape is!  Both Bilal and Brooke B found a shape that no one else found.  It was a triangular tree.    When the class was finished we all got to play on the playground as a reward for our hard work!  It was an awesome day!   Mrs. Moody’s Class – Shared Writing
