It look like it is going to be a nice day for our Field Trip tomorrow!  We will be leaving the school tomorrow at 9:10 so make sure you have a good breakfast before you come to school.  We will be doing three activities, the Interpretive Centre, the Nelson Post Office & traveling by boat to Beaubears Island.  The boat will only hold enough people for our class to go over but will go back to pick up any parents wishing to participate in the tour of the Island.  Don't forget to bring these things for the field trip:WaterLunch (nothing that has to be warmed up)HatSneakersSunblock Thanks

On Tuesday we went to the gym and watched the Calgary Fiddlers.  They played really good music with their fiddles, spoons and egg shakers.  Tyler, Ava, Luke, Graham, Keira, Emma and Alexander played the spoons.  Samuel helped them play the fiddle.  Everyone was able to dance to the music and sing too.  We learned that the difference between the violin and the fiddle is that the music is different for each.  St. Andrew’s School choir joined us to watch the concert.  Xander saw two of his friends from that school.  Olivia in grade one, won the CD of the Calgary Fiddlers and a pencil.  They were AWESOME and we were thrilled that they came to our school. Parent Teacher interviews scheduled for Thursday, March 20 have been rescheduled to this Thursday, March 27.  We have been discussing the H Brothers  (Charles, Sherman, Whit & Theo) in class last week and continuing this week.  Please ask your child to tell you a little bit about each of the brothers. Maybe they could even look for words in their books at home that have ch, sh, th or wh in them.  Thanks!

Skating On Our Outdoor Rink At Gretna Green Elementary School we have an outdoor rink.  We went skating on the rink three times so far.  We have to bring skates and a helmet to protect our head.  Some parents or other family members come to watch us and help us skate.  We need help putting on our skates and helmets.  Thank you for helping us.  The Kindergarten class is lucky that the weather has been perfect skating weather.  We would like to thank all those who help clean the rink off after it snows.  Alexander says, “Thank you Mother Nature for the great weather.”  Xander, Mirinda, Ava, Alexander, Gracie, Dylan and Keira said that they noticed a big difference with their skating because of all the practice.  Mirinda wants to thank Emma and Gracie for helping her skate.  Some of our classmates are going to skate on the rink over the March Break.  We all hope we can go skating again after the March Break. Thank you to those who have been purchasing books from the Scholastic book orders.  With every book order placed we receive bonus coupon rewards to put towards books for the classroom.  We just received the books I ordered for the class with the reward coupons we received from the last two book orders.  The students are excited to have some brand new books for the listening centre and some new non-fiction books to add to our classroom library.  Thank-you!
