Mrs. McQuaid Murphy

French immersions math and science

Please excuse the background noice as I am using an old ipad.   My puppy Bear is also very interested in learning about triangles and is attacking me as I try to write on the ipad.   Working from home can have it's challenges.   The video goes over how we can name triangles by the lenth of the sides or by the angles.  Students need to memorize these 6 triangle names.  They need to be able to name given triangles and be able to draw triangles when given the meassurements.   Students will need a protractor and ruller for class each day.   A pencil is required and a good erraser.

Please use show me to to find more videos.  You can also create your own showme to ask questions.

Mme. Gallant and Mr. Walsh will be giving a worksheet and checking technique in class.   If you are at home, feel free to email me for a copy of the assignments.

Take care and wash your hands often  :)

Math 8

-No math class on Thursday.

Math/science 6 and 7

-Today students worked at their own pace.  A mini lesson was given on how to write a conclusion and how to include math in the stem fair project.   Students could use the following in their STEM project: to calculate averages percent, fractions, probability, graphs and data tables.

-Students had time to work on Reflex, Mathletics, STEM project and conference with me for advice and help to edit.

Math 6

-Module 7 on probability today.  Students learnt about theoretical and experimental probability. We correct question 1 to 3 on page 273.  40 minutes given to work on Page 274-275 Q 4 to 10.  Most students are done the questions.  These questions should be completed for tomorrow.

-We discussed how some people may want to include percent and probability calculations in their STEM fair project.

-Time was given to work on Mathletics and Reflex.

Science 8

-Handout given for conclusion.  We went over what should be in a conclusion.  Students added to the notes given.  Many students have sent me access to their file through office 365.  I have been login in and helping to edit and leaving comments and suggestions.  I am really impressed with the work that I have been seeing.  Please remember that I am in Sandiego for professional development next week and will not be able to edit and conference.  The teacher replacing me does speak French and will be able to give some assistance.   Students should be ready to work on writing the conclusion and making the poster board next week in class.

February 24th -class presentation for marks on the report card.

Feb 25th pm- parents are invited to view the projects.
