Math 8 

-Formative tests were handed back.  Students write the summative test tomorrow. We continued our work with percent today. 

Math 6 and 7  

-Grade 6 worked on their graphs.  Q 4 from Page 265 for homework. 

-Grade 7 continued their work with percent.  We learnt two methods.  See notes below. 

Math 6 

-Test passed back to be signed. 

-Students should include graphs in their STEM fair projects.  We learnt the difference between continuous and discrete data.  Q 4 page 265 is for homework. 

Science 6 

--We went over the two types of observations, discrete and continuous data and what should be included in a conclusion.  Please see notes posted below. 

-School showcase is the afternoon of February 25th.

STEM fair project update.  Students should be finished the two planning assignments and doing their project this weekend at home.

Math 6 and 7  

-Grade 6 worked on their graphs.  They had time to finish Mathletics and Reflex. 

-Grade 7 Started their unit on calculating percent.  We learnt two methods.  See notes below. 

Math 6 

-Started a unit on graphing.  This will be helpful for STEM fair projects.  We learnt the difference between continuous and discrete data.  Q 1 and 2 from page 265 is for homework. 

Science 7 and 8 

-Both planning assignments are now due.  Students can pass in the paper copy of send me access to their word document in office 365 by hitting the “share” button and entering Angela McQuaid Murphy. 

-Next week we will work on graphing and data tables.  Students must have their data in order to make good use of class time.  All projects for grade 7 and 8 must be complete Feb 24th .  Parents are invited to view projects the afternoon of February 25th.

Math 8 

-We started our unit on percent. (chapter 5) 

Math 6 and 7  

-The grade 6  started our unit on data management.  This will be helpful for STEM fair projects.  We talked about continuous and discrete data.   Q 1 and 2 in notes are for homework. 

-Grade 7 – Students wrote their test today.  Time was given for Reflex and Mathletics. 

Math 6 

-Students wrote their test. 

Science 8 

-We did a locker clean up today.  We went over what a hypothesis should look like.  We also reviewed the expectations for a procedure.   Time was given to edit their work. 

-Planning is due tomorrow.  PASSED in either in paper format or sent through office 365.

Math 8 

-Finish Q on page 161 for homework 

Math 6 and 7  

-The grade 6 got their formative test back.  Test will be tomorrow. 

-Grade 7 – We reviewed percent and ratios from grade 6 as this will be our next unit.  Some students did the test they missed Friday.  Summative test will be Wednesday. 

Math 6 

-Students got their formative test back.  We will go over it in class tomorrow.  Test Wednesday. 

Science 6 and 7 

-We went over a hypothesis today.  We also reviewed what should be in a procedure.  Time was given to work on both.  Hypothesis is now due.  Procedure is due Friday.  Students should be doing the project this week. 

Science 6 

-We went over the parts of the planning for an innovation project.  We went over what a hypothesis is and reviewed the passive voice.  We did a procedure writing activity and learnt that we need to put more details in our instructions.

Jersey day tomorrow!!!!!!!! 

Math 8 

-No class on Thursdays. 

Math 6 and 7  

-The grade 6 finished their January review packet.   They could use their notes as this activity is to encourage them to review material previously taught. 

-Grade 7 – We went over the review sheet and homework from the text.  Students will write a formative test tomorrow. 

Math 6 

-Some students worked on the September to January review.  Some students worked on their Reflex and Mathletics.  A few students worked on some grade 7 fraction questions as and enrichment.   We will be having a practice test for ratios and percent soon. 

-New tutorial videos are posted in the ShowMe app for review in preparation for our next test.

Science 7, and 8 

-Students should have their planning sheet done.  Most students are working on the hypothesis and procedure.    Next week students should be “doing” the project and collecting their data.

Math 8 

-Students need to finish questions from section 3.9.  See notes below for questions. 

Math 6 from split class 

-We did a lesson together and then students worked on Page 189 Q 8, 9 and 10. 

Math 7 

-Students did a review puzzle on reducing fractions.  We then did a lesson on word problems with fractions.  Homework is page 214 Q 15, 17 and 19. 

Math 6 

-Students worked on ratios today and on percentages. 

-Page 189 Q 8, 9 and 10 are for homework. 

Science 8 

-Planning sheet is not overdue.

Math and science 8 

-We went over the formative test and did a review.  Students then did a test. 

-Time was given to work on Reflex, Mathletics and STEM fair. 

 

Math 6 and 7  

-We had a presentation today. 

Math 6 

-Students worked on the September to January review.  They had time to finish Reflex and Mathletics. 

Science 7, and 8 

-Students should have their planning sheet done for Wednesday.  I have started to meet with some groups and will finish the conferences on Wednesday and Thursday.
