Math 8


-In our first class we passed back work that needs to be signed and returned. 

-We reviewed for the test tomorrow.

-In our second class we learnt about Pythagorean Theorem.   No homework.

-Some time given for Mathletics.


 


Math 7

-Students chose to have their test on Thursday.   Practice test was passed back today.  Mr. Walsh worked with a small group of students to review.

Math 6

-Today a study guide was handed out for our next test on Thursday,   Students are to finish the last three questions on the last page.

Homework

Please note that I will be preparing report cards this weekend.  All student duotangs of marked work should be returned into the basket in my class.

Math 8

-Today we worked on estimating square roots of numbers that are not perfect squares.  Students will need a pencil and a ruler for class each day.

Math 7

-Today we continue our work with tables and relationships.   Students are to complete the first page of questions from the text in the notes posted below.   We will continue this work tomorrow before the remembrance day ceremony.  All questions will be due Tuesday.

Math 6

-Today we went over the work from yesterday.   Students saw the importance of having a title for their graph.  We also went over how to write a relationship and expression from a table.  If not completed the formative test in class it is for homework for tomorrow morning.

-Test is tentatively planned for Wednesday.

Homework

Math 8

-Continue to memorize perfect squares.

-Finish up to question 13 for homework.

Math 7

-Students had time to work on Mathletics today.   We aso continued our work on algebra.  Quiz Wednesday.  Quiz will be similar to the review sheet 1.3 that we corrected as a class today.

Math 6

-We were in the lab today for science class using microscopes.  

-Students did a review sheet in class today.

-Formative test will be Wednesday.  Summative test is tentatively booked for Tueday.

We have been working  on a lot of fun activities during this past week.  Musical multiplication, order of operations matching game, separating mixtures, simple filtrations, and Mathletics....We are having a lot of fun learning math and science.

Math 8

-No class on Thursday

Math 7

-Time given for Mathletics.

-We continue our work with expressions relations and tables.  Homework is to complete the questions in the notes.

Math 6

-We corrected Q 1 page 14

-We learnt how to make a graph from a table.

-Q2 a is for homework.

Science 7

-Today we went over the rubric for science drawings.  See notes below.

-We went over the equipment names and the set up for a simple filtration.  Notes are posted below.  We will be doing a filtration in the lab tomorrow.

Science 8

-We continued our work with <<les glasier>>.   We did some guided reading and students were given some time to research global warming.

-Students had a work period while I conferenced with students.

-Students have work to be signed and returned for tomorrow.

Math 6

-Today we looked at how to create a table from a pattern.  We also saw how to create the <machines> from a table and how to write and expression from the table.

-Homework is Q 1 a and b from page 14.   Extra questions in notes below.

-We did our test today.

Math 7

-We worked on filling in tables today.

-We did an activity to distinguish between expressions and equations.

-We played musical multiplication.

-All duotangs of marked work should now be returned signed.

Math 6

-We played musical multiplication.

-Students completed a worksheet on patterns.

-Time was given to work on Mathletics tasks.  Remember that you are entered in two classes.  You can switch between the two with the tab under your avatar.

Science 7

-We took notes on methods of separations.

Science 6

-We completed the sheet on microscope parts.  We will be in the lab next week.  Students should know the names of the parts of the microscope for Monday.

Homework

Science 7

-Today we were in the science lab doing a separation activity.

Math 7

-Students were given time to complete their Mathletics tasks for the week.  Dance tonight.  NO HOMEWORK.

Math 6

-Math operations test handed back and is to be returned signed.

-Today we started lesson 1 of module 1.  Students were given a half hour of class time to complete the tables in questions 2, 4, 5 and determine the “machine” for question 6 on page 8.  If this was not done it is to be completed for homework.  Please note that students are not to complete the other parts of the questions.  Today we worked on completing tables only.    Homework questions should be done in pencil only.

Math 8

-No class on Thursdays.  I did pass back the formative assessment on nets and conference with each student on their mistakes during science class.  Test is Monday.  Tomorrow we will go over the formative assessment for graphs.

Science 8

-Test Tuesday during Math class.  We chose this date to avoid having the test on Halloween or when students are away for sports.
