French immersions math and science

Math 8

-Today we learnt about models for multiplying that use <<des jetons>>.  Homework is p. 113 Q7 (with jeton drawings) and Q 8 (method of choice to find the answer).

-Notes posted below.

 

Math 7

-Below you will find notes to review the major types of percent problems.  Students must read the question to know if they should add or subtract.  -Enrichment was given today and students were shown how to solve the question using notation like grade 8.  Some students may wish to show their work in this advanced method.

-Students did a formative assessment today and it will be passed back tomorrow.  Test Friday.

Math 6

-We continue to work at changing between mixed numbers and impropre fractions.  Today we saw how to do it without a model.

-Homework p. 168 Q 1, 2, 3, 4 and p. 169 Q 9. 

-Unfortunately, due to computer problems, I am unable to post notes from today's class.

*Homework checks were done today in all three math classes.  Agenda's were stamped if homework was incomplete. 

*Mathletics is up and working again.  Students can use this resource to review and develop their math skills.  Assignments (tasks) have been assigned for the week and should be completed for Monday. 

Math 8

Today we worked on the models that are given in our book for multiplying fractions. We had two classes and two sets of notes are posted below.  Homework is p. 108/109 Q 5, 10 and 11 and p. 113 Q 6 and 10.

Math 7

-Today we continued to work on finding the percent of a number.  Students work on rounding and finding estimations by using 10% of the number.  We will continue to work on this next class.  No homework.

Math 6

-Today we worked on identifying des fractions impropres et des nombres fractionnaires.  Their is a tutorial video in the notes posted below that is interactive and great for review. Students can copy and paste it to try it at home.  Homework is p.165 Q1, 2 and 3.

 

Science 8

-Students are to pick which type of project they want to do this week.  They should pick a topic that interest them as we will be working on this for several weeks.  Projects are due Feb 20th with the school showcase Feb 27th.

Math 6

-Today we started Chapter 5 on fractions.  We learnt what an improper fraction and a mixed number is.  We also learnt the term equivalent fractions.

-Homework worksheet

Math 7

-Today we learnt how to calculate tips, taxes and sales.  Homework p. 112 Q 1, p. 113 Q 3, p. 115 Q 1 et 2.

Math 8

-p. 108 Q 6 and 8

Science

-This week students are to pick wich type of STEM project they would like to do.  Each type of project is being introduced in class.

-test tomorrow.

Math 7

-Work passed back.  Students need to use estimation to verify where they place the decimal in their answers.   Formative test tomorrow.  Summative test Thursday.  No calculator for the test.  Students can use Mathletics to review.  Review sheets have been given.

Math 6

-Formative test will be passed back tomorrow.  Summative test that counts will be Wednesday.   We had a good review today.

Science 8

-Video project is due at the end of the week.  You will have all afternoon to work on it.  Mr. Duplessie will be here to help solve any technical problems.

Math 8

-Test Tuesday on module 1

-marked work due back with corrections

-Side one of worksheet due.

-Continue to work on mathletics tasks.

 

Math 7

-We worked on division and multiplication of decimals today.  Students should be using mathletics (without a calculator) to review.

-Summative test Wednesday.

-We may do two math classes Monday if students want more review for the test.  (Storm perhaps on Tuesday??)

Math 6

-Today we worked on multiplication and division of decimals.  Q 1 is for homework.

-Students are to complete Mathletics tasks before December 22nd.

Science 7

-Today we learnt about thermometers.  Students took notes that are posted below.

Science 8

-Climate change projects are due Friday of next week.

-Today we went over how to use base 10 blocks to model multiplication of decimals.

-Worksheet was handed out and we will finish it in class on Friday.

Math 6

-Q 1 on page 101 and Q7 on page 102 for homework.

 

Science 8

-Video project on Climat change is due before the Christmas break.

Science 7

-We did guided reading today around the topic of saturated solutions.  We looked at how indurtries use the concepts of saturation and distilation.
