Only 3 more weeks until Christmas holidays!!! We won the Pizza Party for Class of the Month! Yeah us! Hopefully we will have our Pizza Party on Friday. I will let you know.
* Drama continues this week and we will continue practicing our Christmas Concert song!
* We have Roots of Empathy on Thursday. We will be starting a new unit on "Caring and Planning for Babies"
Language Arts - We will finish our Santa Letters and we will be working with our Reading Buddies to write a Christmas story.
Math - We will finish 8 Representing Coins and start and hopefully finish Lesson 9 Counting by 3's and 4's. We are also going to have a Super Star Store to practice our money counting skills!
Science - We will finish our Unit on soils.

The last week of November!! Remember to dress for the weather boys and girls. Outdoor recess will soon starting getting colder. You need your hats and mitts!*Sheree Fitch is coming to Gretna Green on Tuesday and we get to see her! That is really exciting! *We will have our Roots of Empathy class with Kim on Thursday and Friday is CRAZY HAT DAY!! *Drama continues this week. Language Arts - We will be finishing our Reader's Theatres this week and will present them to our Reading Buddies!Math - We will be skip counting with Money this week.Science - We will continue our investigation into Soils!Let's have another Superstar week! This morning our Grade 3 Superstars were engaged in a Video Chat with the Hon. Minister of Education, Mr. Jody Carr. It was a great time! Students had individual questions for the Minister about his job, the Miramichi and the Province of New Brunswick. It was an incredible learning opportunity that breaks down the walls of the classroom. See the Image Gallery for more pics!

We have a very busy and fun week ahead of us!!
* Report Cards go home on Monday. It is time to show your parents how awesome you are!
*Parent- Teacher Interviews will take place on Thursday evening and Friday morning. There will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, November 23, 2012.
*We will visit the Scholastic Book Fair on Monday and Wednesday afternoon at 1:15. Your parents can attend too or they are welcome to check it out Thursday night!
* Baby Elena will be visiting on Thursday afternoon. We will continue investigating,"Why Babies Cry?"
Language Arts - We will finish up our stories, "The Secret Knowledge of Kids." We will also be starting a Reader's Theatre!
Math - We will finish Lesson#6(Counting by 5s,10s,25s and 100s) and begin Lesson# 7 (Skip Counting with Coins)
Art - We are going to do an Art Lesson( 5 Patterns in Nature) on Monday and Tuesday afternoon.
Science - We will continue with our Unit on Soils!

*This is the last week for the Wednesday night group for Mad Science!
* Drama continues on Tuesday and Wednesday afterschool.
* Kim will visit on Thursday for a new Roots of Empathy lesson.
* Friday is SCHOOL SPIRIT day....everyone is encouraged to wear Green and Gold!
Language Arts - This week we are going to create a new writing piece based in the ideas in the book "Secret Knowledge Of Grown-Ups". We will try to write about the Secret Knowledge of Kids!
Math - We will continue with our Unit on Numbers to 1000.
Science - We are going to examine our Soil Samples again.

We have another full week ahead of us!
*This is the last week for Thursday night Mad Science. The Wednesday night group will finish up next Wednesday.
*There will be a Remembrance Day Assembly on Friday morning at 10:30. The Superstars will be singing with Grade 4B. Parents are welcome to attend!
Language Arts - We will be working with our Spelling Words, contractions and the writing traits of "Ideas".
Math - We will continue working on "One Number, Four Ways"

This is Halloween Week in Grade Three and at Gretna Green!
Monday is Scary Hair Day and pumpkin decorating day.
Tuesday is Buddy Writing Day and Inside Out/Backwards Day.
Wednesday is Orange and Black day and we will have our Parade of Customes in the gym at 1:15! You will also have an opportunity to Wrap the Mummy....I guess that means...wrap me in toilet paper! It is going to be a fun week!
* Mad Science will not take place this week on WEDNESDAY night because it is Halloween. It will be re-scheduled for November 14th.
* Our Roots of Empathy instructor, Kim, will be here on Thursday for a follow up lesson from our baby visit!
Language Arts - We will be finishing up our Halloween Stories and helping our Reading Buddies write a story!
Math - We will start Lesson 2: Modelling 2 Digit Numbers
Art - We will have Art on Monday and we will be making black cats!

*It is not much longer until Halloween! This week there will be a Guess the Candy contest all week. You can make a guess for .25 cents. The jar and tickets will be outside the cafeteria!
*Our Roots of Empathy classes will start this week! Our instructor, Kim Lenhart will visit on Monday and our baby, Elena and her mom, will visit on Thursday!! Yeah!!
Language Arts - I am very pleased with how our Daily 5 rotations are going. We will continue to try to have 3 rotations each day! Mini lessons this week will be on the Writing Trait of Ideas, making sentences and we will add a new strategy under Comprehension and Acuracy on our Cafe wall.
Spelling - We will have a SPELLING TEST on Friday for our October words!
Math - We will be counting large numbers. I have a yummy peanut free surprize for you to count! We will also look at the Expanded Form of 3 digit numbers.
Social Studies - We will be finishing up our Atlantic Region projects. You are doing a fantastic job!! Keep up the great work!
