SKATING
It looks like the weather is going to co-operate for our skate tomorrow! We will be skating from 12:45 – 1:45. Remember to bring your helmet and dress warm!

The first full week in February! Only 4 more weeks until March Break!!
* Skating - Friday, February 8 from 12:45- 1:45. Hopefully the weather will co-operate this week and will be able to skate!
* Basketball continues afterschool on Wednesday and Thursday.
Language Arts - Starting this week you will have more choice in your activities during Daily 5. We will also continue with the Trait of Organization and will start looking at Word Choice as well!
Math - This week we will be adding and subtracting with double digits!
Social Studies - We will be continuing to learn about the people of New Brunswick!
It is going to be another Superstar Week!!

Unfortunately we have cancel our plans to skate again this week due to the weather and our school assembly. We will re-schedule next week.

This is the last week of January!! Time is flying by for our Superstars!!
* We are going to skate this week on Friday from 12:45-1:45 Hopefully the weather will co-operate this week!
* Basketball for girls and boys continue this week afterschool on Wednesday and Thursday!
* Book Orders are due this Friday, February 1st!
* We have Roots of Empathy on Thursday afternoon.
* Our choir members will be singing the National Athem at the Pond Hockey Tournament this weekend! Good luck to Bethany, Tyra, Emma and Keylee!
Language Arts - We are still working on the writing trait of Organization and we will continue to look at how to make proper sentence!
Math - We are going to be learning how to Estimate this week!
Social Studies - We are going to record our "Greeting From Around the World" on the green screen this week and we will begin to learn about the Cultural Diversity in New Brunswick!

To finish our Science unit on Soils, we created "Soil Peeps". We put soil and grass seed in nylons and decorated them to make them our own. We have them in our classroom in a spot that gets lots of sun. We also water them often. After only two weeks they have started to sprout hair. Some of them have hair that is 4 cm long! The ones that have the humus soil seem to be growing the best. The ones that have soil made of more rock and sand only have a few sprouts!

This morning we had our second Mystery Skype. This is a video conference with another class around the world and we try to guess their location. They also try to guess our location. We won!! We narrowed down their location first to Toronto, Ontario!. Way to go Super stars!

We have another exciting week ahead of us!!
*Basketball continues for Grade 2/3. The girls go on Wednesday from 2:30-3:30 and the boys go on Thursday at the same time.
* We are going to skate on our outdoor rink on Friday afternoon from 12:45 - 1:45. (weather permitting) Remember your helmets!!
* We have two Mystery Skypes this week!! One on Tuesday morning and one on Thursday afternoon! This is a great opportunity to practice our Geography!!
* Baby Elena will be visiting on Thursday morning to help us continue with our Unit on Feelings in Roots of Empathy!
Language Arts - We will continue to work on the writing Trait of Organization by learning new ways to begin our stories!
Math - We will start Lesson 3 on Equations
Art - We will have an Art Lesson on Feelings on Monday afternoon!
Social Studies - We will continue to learn about our province of New Brunswick!
I would like to officially welcome our Student Intern, Ms. Morgan Ullock. Morgan will be learning and teaching along side us until late April! Welcome Ms. Ullock!

Our first full week of school for 2013!!! Yeah!!!
* Basketball starts this week for any students in Grade 2 and 3 that want to join. The girl's program is on Wednesdays from 2:30-3:30. The boy's program is on Thursdays from 2:30-3:30.
* Book Orders are due back this Friday, January 18.
* Crazy Sock Hop - The Student Council has a Sock Hop planned for recess time. Where your crazy socks and get ready to dance!
* Skating - As soon as our rink is ready we will be going outside as a class to skate,
Language Arts - We are working on a good Introducation in writing. We will also start our regular rotation of the Daily 5.
Math - We will continue to practice our Doubles and will be review Fact Families!
Social Studies - We will be learning about Rural and Urban areas of New Brunswick.

Happy New Year to all our Grade 3 Superstars! I hope you are having a wonderful holiday. Thank you so much for all the generous presents and kind donations for our class. They are all very much appreciated! I am looking forward to starting school again and seeing all your smiling faces. Remember that school for you doesn't start until WEDNESDAY JANUARY 9, 2013! The last week before Christmas break!!!! How exciting!! It is going to be another Superstar Week!!
Monday - We are going to have a Mystery Skype Monday Morning.
Our Choir students will be singing at the Senior Citizens Home.
We will have our last Roots of Empathy lesson before Christmas.
Tuesday - We have concert rehearsal at 10:00.
Wednesday - We have two Christmas Concerts ...10:00am and 12:30 pm
Thursday - Storm date for Christmas concert....Elf/Santa Hat day!!
Friday - Green and Red day!!
There will be many other Christams Activities througout this fun week!! We are very blessed to have another Superstar week ahead of us!!

* Drama and choir continue this week.
Language Arts - We will finish writing our Christmas stories with our Reading Buddies. We will also continue to learn about Homonyms and Contractions.
Math - We finish Unit 2 Numbers to 1000 and prepare for the unit test.
