We have another great week ahead of us Superstars!!  Hopefully the weather will co-operate and we will be able to get outside and enjoy fresh air. Remember that we are working on saying "Excuse Me" if you interrupt two people talking.  We did a good job with this last week.  I will be checking in on our rink and planning a time for us to skate.  Hopefully this week! 

Boy's basketball this week is at Metepenagiag. Game time was 3:45

Girl's basketball this is at Max Aitken. Game time 3:45

Hackmatack will resume this Tuesday at 1:00.

Language Arts - This week we will be learning about homonyms and working with long and short vowels sounds.

Math - We will have a test on adding and subtracting larger numbers on Monday. Tuesday we will start a new unit on Multiplication and Division.

Social Studies - We are going to start a unit on Canadian Provinces.

Happy New Year Superstars and Welcome Back!!  I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas holidays.  Welcome to our two new students who will be joining us on Tuesday.  We look forward to meeting you.  Remember to continue to dress for the weather. There is lots of fun snow to play in when it warms up more, but you will need snowpants, hat and mitts to enjoy it!  Our GG rink is up and going. Once it is cleared off from the last storm we will plan a time to go skating.  You have had a nice long break from homework so guess what....Homework will start again right away and so will our weekly multiplication quizzes.  The focus of our SUPERSTAR board is trying not to interrupt when two people are talking.

Language Arts - This we will be focusing on the Writing Trait on Organization. We will continue our Daily 5 routine.

Math - We will review subtraction with large numbers and get ready for a test on this next week.  Also we will continue with Reflex, Mathletics and look at a new trial website we have for a month called Arcademics.  There is a competion with this website  called the "Arcademic Cup" will be discussing.

Heath - We will finish writing and recording our projects on Healthy Kids.

Merry Christmas my Superstars!! Only 4 and half days left until Christmas holidays begin.  Friday is a half day of school. Dismissal is at 11:00.

This week is Christmas Spirit Week at Gretna Green and everyday has a theme.

Monday is Christmas Hat Day.

Tuesday is Twin Day.

Wednesday is Ugly Chrismtas Sweater Day.

Thursday is Jersey Day.

Friday is PJ Day!  Also on Friday there will be a student\teacher basketball game. Go teachers!

Amongst all this fun we will still be working on our Daily 5, Subtracting Large Numbers and our Healthy Kids projects.  We will probably find some time to do Christmas Art as well!

The count down continues my Superstars!! Only two weeks of school left until Christmas holidays!!  Unfortunately I am not feeling well enough to be with you at school on Monday but hopefully I will be back on Tuesday. You guys sure know how to make your teacher feel loved. The cards you made for me were fantasic. They brought happy tears to my eyes!! Thank you!

Congratulations to Rhylee on reaching 100% Fluency with Addition and Subtraction...and congratulations to both Alexander and Evan who both reached 100% fluency in Multiplication and Division. I will take your pictures and tweet them out when I return. 

Monday you will have rehearsal for the Christmas Concert. Remember if you have Reindeer ears and sunglasses bring them in as soon as possible.

Our Christmas concert will take place on Thursday morning at 10:00.  Make sure your parents know so they can come watch the songs you have been working so hard on!!

...oh yes...there will be no more homework or multiplication quizzes until after Christmas...Merry Christmas!

Language Arts - this week we will be working on Christmas Language Arts activities.

Math - We will work on subtracting big numbers.

Health - We are going continue looking at Personal Hygene and exercise this week.

I know it is going to be another SUPERSTAR week!

The count down is on...only three more weeks of school until Christmas holidays!! You can feel the excitment in the air.  Remember that we are still focusing on "Choosing Nice".  This is a great skill to practice for anytime of year but an especially good to practice a Christmas.  I wonder when our class elf will show up!? 

Basketball for Grade 4/5 girls this week is a practice after school on Thursday from 2:30 - 3:30. The game that was on the schedule was cancelled. I'm not certain what the boys schedule is.

On Monday we will get to see the dress rehearsal for the play that the Drama Club has been working hard on. This will take place in the gym at 10:00.

Language Arts - This week we will continue working on Quoatation Marks and we will be doing a few Christmas activities.

Math - This week we will be learning mental math strategies to subtract large numbers.

Health - This week we will be focusing on Personal Hygene and Exercise.

Our Superstars have read 100 books so far this year!  Students have worked very hard during Daily 5 to reach this goal!! Bravo!! Now we get to celebrate with a Pizza Party. Tomorrow students will not need their lunch as they will be treated to Pizza and Garlic Fingers made by our very own Chef Maurice!

Welcome back to a 5 day week of school. We have lots of fun ahead of this week. Our Superstar board is full!! We get to unlock the last reward! We continue to work on "choosing nice". We have 9 more books to read and we will reach 100 books read for our class!! A pizza party is around the corner.

Remember to dress for the weather. Colder days are here and outdoor recess can be cool!

Girl's 4\5 Basketball team has a game on Thursday at NSEE. Game time is 4:00.

Language Arts - This week will be learning about "Quotation" marks and their proper use.

Math - We will  be adding large numbers with re-grouping this week.

Health - We will continue working with Canada's Food Guide this week.

Welcome back to another awesome week superstars. This is a four day week of school because there will be Parent-Teacher Interviews and PD on Friday.  So that means no school for you!

Report cards will go home on Monday! Parent-Teacher interview times will be indicated on your report card.

We will be visiting the Scholastic Book Fair this week on Monday and Wednesday afternoon at 1:00.

As a class we are still working on choosing to be "Nice"! We have most of our Superstar board filled in which means that many of you chose to do the right thing last week and you were "nice" to your friends and classmates. Way to go!

Basketball for both boys and girls will start this week.  Times and days will be passed on as soon as I have them.

 

Language Arts - We will be learning about the proper use of an apostrophe. As well, we will continue to work on Ideas and Organization with our writing.

Math - We will be practicing the mental math strategies we have learned and we will continue to work on adding with two, three and four digit numbers.

Health - This week we are going to explore Canada's Food Guide.

Music - This week will be begin to practice for our Christmas Concert.

I hope everyone enjoyed their extra long weekend. Congratulations on unlocking anothering reward. You have worked really hard at greeting people and treating others the way you want to be treated. This week we are going to focus on choosing to be "Nice". You have a choice in how you behave, always try to choose to be nice!

Saturday morning there will be a special breakfast in our cafeteria. Tickets for this breakfast went home last week. Tickets are $5.00/person and there are three different times you can attend.

Language Arts - This week we will be finishing our study with "contractions". We will also be re-visiting the Ideas trait in writing.

Math - This week we will be finishing our Mental Math strategies and moving on to adding with big numbers. In your homework this week you have to play a multiplication game with someone at home. Remember to be studying your three and four times table. We only have one more week with these before we move on.

Health - This week we will be starting our unit on Healthy Kids.

Remember Superstars that this is a four day school week. Friday is a Professional Development day for teachers so there is NO SCHOOL for students. 

Our Remembrance Day service will take place on Thursday morning at 10:00 in the gym.  Parents are welcome to attend.

A reminder that the weather is getting cooler and you will need proper clothing for outdoors. Bring your hats, mitts and warm coats!!

We had our reward from our Superstar board on Friday(an extra art period). This week we are going to focus mostly on the Golden Rule...treating others the way you want to be treated.  This was a challenging one for us last week. I know we can do better in this area.

Language Arts - We will continue to learn about contractions this week.

Math - We will be working on Mental Math strategies for addition this week.

Science - We will present our projects on Rocks, Minerals and Soils this week. You are doing an AWESOME work with these project!!

This is the last week in October and our first week in November.  We are having so much fun that time is flying by. It was great to see everybody participate in Halloween week! What a fun and fabulous week. 

I was very proud of everyone during our field trip the Atlantic Superstore.  You were SUPERSTARS and now our Superstar board is full.  You will get to pick a new reward on Monday morning.

Remember to dress for the weather.  Some mornings are much colder and you will need hats, mitts and a warm jacket for morning recess.

Stay safe on Tuesday night if you go Trick or Treating and be sure to let your parents check your treats before you eat them.

Language Arts - This week we are going to learn about "Contractions".  We will also have our spelling test on Monday as we didn't have time to do it last Friday. As well, we will continue to work on the Writing Trait of Organization.

Math - We are going to learn stratgies for multiplying the 3 and 4 times table.  Make sure you are studying them at home. We will also be starting to add with three and four digit numbers.

Science - This week we will finish and present our Rocks and Mineral projects.

A reminder that tomorrow there will be an early dismissal due to Professional Development for teachers.  Dismiss is at 11:15.

Hey Superstars...remember that this week is  Halloween week at GG!Great work on the GG Times Video Caleb, Wylie and Michael.  Get in the spirit of Halloween and participate in all of the fun days planned. We have a Field Trip planned for this week too. On Friday morning we are going to the Atlantic Superstore to learn about Healthy Eating Choices. Wednesday is another half day of school for students.  So remember there will be an early dismissal at 11:15.

The weather is getting cooler in the morning. Make sure you are dressed properly for the morning recess. 

Monday is school color day...wear your Green, Black and Gold to show your school spirit.

Tuesday is Crazy Hair day.

Wednesday is PJ Day.  Early dismissal at 11:15.

Thursday is Orange and Black day.

Friday is the parade of costumes....bring your costume to school and get ready after lunch.  Field trip to Atlantic Superstore.

 

Language Arts - This week we will be introduced to a new reading response.  We will also continue to work on the Writing Trait of Organization.

Math - We will have an assessment later this week on Estimation and Skip Counting. We are also moving on to the three and four times table.

Science - Monday we will begin our final projects on Rocks, Minerals and Soils.

Healthy - We will start our Unit on Healthy Living.

Welcome back to another awesome week superstars!  Congratulations on unlocking another reward.  I have watched many of you practicing the Goldlen Rule through out the week and greeting people with a smile and a hello. Well done! 

Soccer will be wrapping up this week with a Jamboree on Thursday at Gretna Green. Starting at 3:30.

Cross Country in finished for this season.

Check your drama schedule for your practice times.

Our school Fundraiser started this week and will run until October 23.  All orders must be returned by then.

Language Arts - This week we will continue to work on the Writing Trait of Organization.

Math - Monday we will have an assessment on Ordering and Comparing numbers. We will begin our lessons on estimation and skip counting.

Science - This we will plant our seeds and complete an experiment on the Rock Cycle.
