It is report card week at Gretna Green and that means there is no school on Friday.

*This week we will continue to work on "Above The Line" behaviour so we can keep our buckets full. You did an awesome job last week!!!!

*Report cards will go home on Monday.

* Parent-Teacher meetings will take place on Thursday night and Friday morning.

*The school book fair will take place this week too.  We will be visiting the Book Fair on  Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon at 1:15.

*Our morning recess will be inside again this week so our new playground can be installed.

*There will be No Homework this week but we will still have our multiplication quiz so study the four and five times tables.

Language Arts - This week we will be reviewing the word families of ight, ite and ought.  As well, we will continue to work on the Writing Trait of Organization.

Math - This will be the last week of our Whole Numbers unit.

Social Studies - This week we will start working on a project about Canadian Explorers.

This a four day week for school.  Due to the observance of Remembrance Day, there is no school on Friday.

*Remember to bring warm lcothes.  Both recesses are getting cooler now.  Hats, Mitts and a warm jacket are necessary.

*Our Remembrance Day assembly will take place Thursday morning at 10:00.  Parents are welcome to attend.

Language Arts - This week we will continue working on the writing trait of organization.

Math - We will finish our last lesson in our Whole Numbers Unit and start to prepare for a test.

Social Studies - We are going to begin a new unit on Exploration.

Remember to bring warm clothing for outdoor recess.  The mornings are getting cooler.  Mitts, a hat and warm jacket are necessary.

Welcome again to Jonathan and welcome Holden to our class.  We hope you enoy GG4SS!!

We didnt have time on Friday for our multiplication quiz so it is in your homework for you to try at home.  This month we are moving on to the four and five times tables.

Language Arts - This week we are going to learn about using quotation marks in our writing and we are going to work on the Writing Trait of Organization.

Math - We will be working on subtracting large numbers this week.

Science - We are going to retry our Crystal experiment and learn more about the Rock Cycle.

Remember to pack your costume for tomorrow's parade of costumes.  We will change at noon hour.  The parade will start at 1:20.

It is Halloween Week at Gretna Green and there will be lots of fun activities through out the week like pumpkin decorating, crazy hair day and our GG Parade of Costumes.

Tuesday is Scary Hair Day

Wednesday is free popcorn for all

Thursday is Black and Orange Day

The Parade of Costumes will take place on Friday at 1:25 in the gymnasium. Remember to bring your costume to school and you can get changed at lunch time.

We will be having our second Mystery Skype this week. It will take place on Thursday afternoon.

Remember to dress warm for the morning recess. The weather is starting to get cooler in the morning.

I can wait to see if our crystals grew over the week.

Language Arts - This week we will be learning about contractions.

Math - We will be finishing adding large numbers and moving on to mental math strategies for subtraction.

Science - This week we will be learning about the Rock Cycle.

*Soccer - This week there is Jamboree at Croft on Tuesday at 3:15.  This is for both teams.

Week 3 of Mad Science is this week on Wednesday.

Language Arts - This week we will be working on Reading Comprehension activities and spelling activies.

Math - We will continue to work on strategies for adding large numbers.

Science - This week we will learn more about the 3 different types of Rocks and we will be growing our own crystals.

I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving weekend! 5 days off school should mean that everyone is ready to learn!

*This is Fire Prevention month and there will be an assembly in the gym on Thursday morning.

*Soccer - Team 2 plays on Tuesday October 11 at 3:45 at Burnt Church school!

*Cross Country- This weeks cross country meet is Wednesday at 4:00 at Croft.

*Remember that our school Fundraiser continues until the end of this week!

Language Arts - This week we will be writing a letter to our Penpal class in Western Canada.  We will also be working on the writing trait of Ideas.

Math - We will continue working with Mental Math strategies to add three and four digit numbers.

Science - We will continue to explore rocks and minerals.

Welcome back to our 4th week in 4th Grade!!  We have another fun week ahead of us!!

*The Terry Fox Spare Change Fundraiser will start on Monday.  Remember that you will receive a ballot for "Principal for the Day" for every dollar you donate.

*Friday morning is our Walking School Bus/Terry Fox Walk.  For anyone that can make it, we will be meeting at the Northumberland Square Mall at 7:30 and walking to school!

*This is the last week of the month so we will be nominating students and classes for the monthly awards. There will be an assembly Friday morning.

*Cross Country continues this week.  The meet is at NSEE and starts at 4:00.  Good luck runners!!

*Soccer continues this week: Team1 play at Croft on Tuesday. Game time is 3:30. Team 2 play at Napan on Thursday. Game time 3:30.

Language Arts - Monday we are going to learn how to plan our Daily 5 for the week.  We will also continue working on the writing trait of Ideas.

Math - We will be learning how to estimate and round 3 and 4 digit numbers. We are going to continue with our Reflex this week and what our fluency grow!

Science - This week we are going to start our unit of study on Rocks and Minerals.

Welcome Superstars to another great week in GG4SS!

*Cafeteria services will start this Monday. The menu and prices were sent home last week. You can also check our Cafeteria page on our website.

*Our breakfast program will also start on Monday morning.

*It is picture week at GG.  Our school pictures will be taken on Friday.  Get your picture clothes ready!

*Soccer continues this week for Grade 4 and 5. Team 1 plays at NSEE on Tuesday. Game time is 3:30.

Team 2 play at St. Andrew's Elementary. Game time is 3:30.

*The first Cross Country meet will be this Wednesday at 4:00 at England Hollow.

*Mad Science - There will be a Mad Science presentation in the gym on Tuesday afternoon @ 1:30  for Grade 3 -5

Language Arts- We will continue to work on Read to Self, Work on Writing and Read to Someone.

Math - We will continue improve our Reflex skills and work on Comparing Large Numbers.

Social Studies - We will continue tp plan the Terry Fox event for our school.

Welcome back Superstars to week 2 in GG4SS. A few notes to remember for this week:

*Cafeteria services and our breakfast program will not start this Monday. Hopefully, the start up will be next Monday. 

*Meet the Teacher/PSSC Elections evening will take place this Thursday from 6:00 - 7:30 in our school cafeteria.

*Homework will go home this week!  It will be sent home on Monday and it is to be returned on Friday.

*Soccer will begin this week for Grades 4 - 8. Grade 4-5 will have practice afterschool on Monday.

*Please remember to bring in your $50.00  school supply fee if you haven't done so already.

Language Arts - This week we will continue to build our stamina with Read to Self.  We will also be working on Writing and learning the expectations for writing period.

Math - This week we will be learning all the different ways to represent numbers to 1000.  Hopefully everyone had a chance to try Reflex on the weekend.  We will be using it for Math Center work this week.

Social Studies - We will be learning who Terry Fox is and preparing our school Terry Fox Fundraising Campaign.

This is our final week in Fourth grade! Wow...it has been an awesome year! You have been the best Superstars ever!!

*A reminder that there is no cafeteria and no breakfast program this week.

Monday - We are going to share our Independent projects.

Tuesday - There will be a library presentation in the gym at 1:30

Wednesday - We will be celebrating Mrs. Arbeau's retirement in the gym at 10:00.

We will also have our monthly assembly on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 in the gym.

Thursday - There will be a Student vs Teacher softball game at 1:00....go teachers!!!

Friday - The last day...report card day...and Kylee's birthday!!! Dismissal is at 11:15!!

 

Let's have our last Superstar week of the year!!

Only 2 more weeks of Fourth Grade left...it is hard to believe we are almost done.

*We have field trip to Kouchibougac on Monday. It looks like wet and rainy weather so make sure you are dressed appropriately.  Remember to pack and lunch and drinks.  It will be a fun day regardless of the weather.

*Remember that the cafeteria is now closed.  You will not be able to order or purchase anything for the remainder of the year.

*This Friday is the last day for the breakfast program.

*Mango Go for 42 ends this Friday.  If you haven't got all your kilometers in yet, get out and walk this week.

Language Arts - This will be the last week for our Spelling Tests.  We will also try to finish any stories you are working on during Daily 5.

Math - We will be learning about Capacity and Volume this week.

Science - We will be completing and sharing our Independent projects.

Now there is only three weeks left until the end of fourth grade.  We have lots of fun activities ahead of us during the last three weeks.

Tuesday we will be walking to the Clay Cafe.  Remember to dress for the weather.  It looks like it might so rain so an umbrella would be helpful :)

This is the LAST WEEK for ordering from our school cafeteria.  If you order regularly, you will have to remember to pack your lunch for the last two weeks of school.

Language Arts  - we will continue with our Daily 5 this week and spend time on our Independent projects.

MAth - We will continue with our unit on Measurement.

Science - We will continue to work on our Independent projects.

The Count Down is on...only 4 weeks left in Fourth Grade.  I know the next four weeks will fly by.

* Remember to return your permission slips for our Field Trip and the Black Light Show, if you haven't done this already.

*Monday is the Grand Opening of our new gymnasium.  We have an assembly at 1:15 in the new gymnasium!!

*Our drama and choir students will be attending the District Drama Fest on Monday.  Good luck to all.

*Be ready to report your Fishing Derby results.  The Derby ends on Monday.

*Thursday we will be going to see a Black Light show at JMH.

*Early notice that cafeteria service will end next week on June 10th.  If you typically order, you will have to bring your lunch for the last two weeks.

Language Arts - We will continue with work on Sentence Fluency and we will be starting our independent projects.

Math - We will start a new unit on Measurement this week.

Science - We will start our independent projects this week.
